So that's why you've been responding to my comments on your Zf video. You were preparing this video for release. Hmm. You are going counter to what the tech herd online is saying about the f/1.4..that's it's inferior to the the 1.8 . Pour example: "...shows good resolution across the full frame at longer distances. But: Contrast and color aberrations are not well controlled, close-up performance is weak, there's heavy vignetting, and the lens shows strong field-curvature at closer distances. " I haven't shot the 1.8, but it is even lighter and has that Nano Coating that, historically, does wonders for color rendition.

Sam, have you ever used the Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.4? I want to get a vintage lens for my Zf that isn't too expensive. I've also thought about a Helios, but I think that it's sort of a one trick pony (i.e. the swirly bokeh).

honestly my fav is the minolta 50 1.4 or 58 1.2… not sure i’ve tried the 58 1.4!

I mostly shoot canon.. but aren't Sony and Nikon also doing this with many of their wide lenses. I would say it has become more of an industry standard than just a Canon issue.

haven’t seen nikon do this, and i stopped giving sony a chance a while ago. even if they did… i would maintain that it’s a poor design choice. i will say nikons new 35 1.4 does not have distortion correction required, but canon’s does

@@iamsamhurdphotography I agree with your criticism for the most part. for the cost of these lenses there should be as little compromise as possible... but on the other hand I think very few people that shoot professionally or enthusiast types are hindered by this issue or even know it exist.. since so many edit the bajeezuz out of their photos to begin with in one software or another. Not to mention that the camera itself also uses software to mask the distortion of the lenses. I doubt most photographers are turning that feature off... but you have valid points... I loved the vid though keep it up brother.

It is an amazing lens, bought it and fell in love with it. Don't really understand all the negative fuss about it. Absolutely stunning for video and photo. The size is perfect and it is so much fun to use. Really having a blast with it. I have al the RF glass and I find them quite heavy but that is the price I willingly pay for beautiful glass, that is not a problem for me but I am liking this new size for the 35, it gives me more freedom and is more convenient to use in situations where I want to be stealthy or when I am in documentary mode.
