This episode was important on so many levels and was superbly acted! I love the gentler side story about Elizabeth getting teased for her High marks and how had Lipinski helped her handle it. However, it also served to point out how hatred and bigotry can start out in childhood as innocent teasing and escalate into something much more horrific. It's lessons are still so valuable today and should never be forgotten! Not just in terms of the Holocaust, but in all cases of Senseless hatred and violence and non tolerance. I wish Judy Norton would do a behind-the-scenes of The Waltons on this episode and perhaps even include a segment with actor writer Todd Susman who played Ted Lapinski. He has been in the field for so long and ironically I did not know that he was the voice of the PA announcer on over 40 episodes of M*A*S*H

Will Geer- Grandpa to all. So glad I can still watch Walton episodes. RIP to Walton family actors that have departed and RIP to all those as mentioned in this episode mass murdered by Nazi Germany.America is in a similar situation again, fanatics are threatening Europe and the U.S. The Nazi's and Arab jihadi ideology are VERY similar FYI America.

A big thank you to all the actors here we lost over the years on the Walton's and the ones still with us...You ask where they are now ?? on TV here at 6:00PM week nights in reruns...Of all the shows over the years they never got old just got a new group to watch them and learn what you need to know to grow up right...

When watching the show, he was a bit like a surrogate grandpa to us when we were very young, because Geer, the actor, was from Indiana and my grandpa was from PA. before moving to OH. My grandfather, who passed away in 1973, was born in 1900, so he and Geer were of the same generation ..and the passing of grandpa walton a few years later reminded us of losing grandpa. We were sad.
