She's kinda like K. Muchova - E.R. has had I guess 3 surgeries - ankle / wrist. wrists are tough, obviously super important to tennis. note , I have no actual medical knowledge but. ATP star. Dom Thiem had a wrist , after trying a comeback for near 2 years and hardly winning a 2 nd round match, retired.

In this dilemma, there would have been no adverse consequence if VAR had been used after the point, especially since only two more strokes ensued. The double-bounce would have been “point over,” and no one would have been angry about that. I think the match commentators were right: “this rule will be changed.” There’s another angle on this: the view that tennis pros should “self-report” when an erroneous call goes in their favor. Pro golfers do this if they, for example, inadvertently ground the club (in a sand trap) or accidently touch the ball. Golfers immediately raise their hand to call attention to the violation (“my bad!”). In this scenario, the commentators and everyone else are right in thinking that Iga knew darned-well that the ball bounced twice. All tennis pros know whether or not they “short-hopped” the ball. However, this was a critical point for Iga, so . . . better not to say anything. Yes, the rule says the opponent must stop the play immediately, but that’s counterintuitive if the ball is right in front of the player. Does a defensive football player have to stop the play immediately if he thinks a ballcarrier stepped out of bounds on the way to a touchdown? No. Video is reviewed after the play and the line of scrimmage is marked accordingly. I’ve seen Jimmy Connors purposely double-fault the next point away to offset a bad call that went in his favor. Likewise, Roger Federer has conceded the next point following a bad call that went in his favor, and you’ve probably seen the viral video of Jack Sock encouraging Lleyton Hewitt to challenge a serve that was called out. No actions in those cases was mandatory, but it’s exemplary of good sportsmanship, and a delight to a crowd who truly appreciates fairness. Of course, the VAR rules are not Iga’s fault, but she could have said something to the chair umpire, conceded the point, and the sport would have been better off because of it.

So many lies in this video. Guess what, VAR was on this court, but you have to ask for the review immediately and not wait till the point is over. Navarro waited till the point was over and that's why she couldn't use the VAR. Another video to blame Iga for something she didn't do...

@@joel-s4w8x Five years ago in professional golf is a long time my friend. At the time he won his last major I thought he could surpass Nicklaus' record but that devastating crash and injury to his leg changed my mind. He nearly lost his leg in that accident. I appreciate your optimism but come on, get real. Right now, today, he cannot beat Scottie. And Scottie will have another stellar year and that puts Tiger in his fifties. Plus he has other things in his life, mentoring Charlie, Sun Day Red, TGL, etc., etc., etc. Don't mistake my posts as fodder for your simpleton comments. I have watched Tiger since he appeared on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson when he was four years old. I am a life-long golfer and a student of the game both as a pastime and at the professional level. Last year I shot my age three times with a score of 66 as a scratch golfer.
