Miura is a "little" rough on the edges but is understandable why Ishimori fell in love with him, not only he spoke to her on her lowest moments but now he changed the meaning of "stony" for her... I love their friendship for the moment, since it's obvious he cares for her on his own way and she talks back when she is confused by his reactions. Their relationship it's so goofy... I love them so much🤭 I could write a wall of text explaining why I love both of them and their dynamic but English it's not my first language sadly 😞

Kai reminds me of myself a bit. Kinda abrasive but not in a bad way, more so in a "I want to, and am going to help but, you have to actually ask I wont just because it is the decent thing to do" kind of way. His entire group actually reminds me of the kinds of people I used to surround myself with the abrasive sweetheart, the airheaded but stands-on-business girl who might or might not be dating the quiet guy, and "Friend A" who kinda just vibes well with everyone else so we keep him around.

I enjoyed "A Condition Called Love" but yeah, it was kinda forgettable definitely not one that I am itching to rewatch but I wouldnt turn my nose up at a S2

Zenshu is indeed an isekai, but it’s an isekai in the more classical sense, taking more after the 90s era classics like Vision of Escaflowne and Fushigi Yugi than the current crop of JRPG-adjacent power fantasies. Those older isekai also tended to feature female protagonists! This also results in a general 90s fantasy anime aesthetic and storytelling approach for the Tale of Perishing setting, and I goddamn love it. The worldbuilding in particular has actually been great. So yeah, seems like Natsuko’s summons will all be animation references. I literally stood up from my seat when the Itano Circus sequence played out. Holy shit. Also interesting that Natsuko seemingly has to sleep for the amount of time she actually would have needed to animate something.

Now that you have done frieren and Apothecary diaries you should definitely add Shangrila-frontier ( it is stingy with copyright so just watch out for that , i dont know how that works so cant really tell) . its really good especialy s1 climax and s2 eps , must watch .

Apothecary diary is great it surprised my quite a few times. Also Maomao which means Catcat in Chinese btw has the same VA as Capella or the other way around I should say I suppose. It’s an imaginary country but it’s heavily based on ancient china Maomao left one plant with a note attached at the individual places the concubines stayed at. One of Lihua’s servants threw it out so she actually never saw the note while at Gyokuyou’s place it got delivered to her

Aoi Yuuki is the voice of Maomao and I can already tell you, she seem like she had a lot of fun doing it. Also, funny enough, Maomao being tiny and making fun about it, hit home to Aoi Yuuki since she is only 1m45 or 4 foot 76, but she is big in talent 😁.

This flew under the radar a bit during frieren but it's steadily picked up popularity due to how PEAK! it is. Lead was used irresponsibly basically everywhere in medieval china, and tbh elsewhere in the world too, and that's what the whitening agent of the whitest of face powders was back then. I remember learning about lead in china watching a documentary as a kid so it was fun seeing it here and immediately being able to tell the likely cause. The period is probably early qing dynasty-ish, but as the show states at the beginning of the episode it's fictional and doesnt match up exactly to real history or geography.

A few things you misunderstood this episode: the place where maomao was when she called the girl “sister” and the woman “granny” is a brothel, they’re not royalty and they are not her biological family. Also the flower that was thrown away was for the concubine who ended up losing her child (because one of her servants threw away maomao’s note.) Maomao sent a flower to both the concubines but only one of them actually read it and followed her advice.

I recently finished this journey myself, and I can attest to what everyone says about how peak this show is. Maomao is a treasure, and the writing is outstanding. This truly is a diary written by an apothecary.

There's one big thing the anime left out from that fight. In the manhwa, when Jinwoo says he needs a stronger fighter, he kicks the sword over to Kim so that the hilt knocks into his arm where he's laying unconscious. This wakes Kim, looking down at the sword. Jinwoo then deliberately stands with his back open to Kim to goad him into attacking so he'd have an excuse to kill him. And the B rank girl saw it all. Also, for reference, I'm pretty sure Barka (the elf) was around low S rank. In the manhwa, when Jinwoo is fighting alone against him, Barka is just toying with Jinwoo, blocking and dodging his attacks with contemptuous ease, almost as if he's bored. He doesn't even blink when Jinwoo tried the teleporting dagger trick. Like he's fighting a child. He doesn't take the fight seriously until it's 1v3. At the start of this fight, I'd guess Jinwoo is at the peek of A rank. That's just my guess though.

I love this show

I don’t want to comment too much on the story because they might expand on the story/lore later on, so I’ll just say two things. One, it’s crazy seeing this get an anime adaptation half a decade after the source material ended. Two, the manga is way more explicit with the nudity and gore. Like innards are drawn in detail. Not really a complaint, we should always expect that kinda stuff toned for TV, but it’s something to keep in mind if you want that edgy goodness.
