It began with the absolutely brutal heinous and frankly shocking persecution of the Nazarenes & Ebionites, and the followers of Arius. To me that’s the clearest sign of the evil that emerged from the prior council. There is n reasonable explanation as to why such a young church would persecute so vehemently vigorously and assiduously THEIR OWN BRETHEN in Christ, unless there was some real threat to their power the teachings & opinions these people professed. It is the Roman Catholics who barbarically brutalised plundered and sullied the name of Christ, then outdone only by their Protestant English cousins centuries later. All the while, the true followers of Christ remained hidden & underground, they had a sacred duty to hold on to & pass down Jesus’s pure and true message. And now in the age of information, the truth is emerging bit by bit, but only those with objective vision and unbiased hearts can appreciate it. Let us pray that this prompts all of us to repent & return to Wisdom, amen.

True Christianity focuses on the Truth that "God became man so that man could become God." Humility, nonjudgement, moderation, service, fraternity, and nonconfrontation are the original teachings of the Christ. All else is corruption.

As an Irishman who was born in W.Berlin, E.Germany and baptised a Lutheran, growing up in Catholic Brooklyn NY, obviously I've had a lot on my mind as far as the church goes. I'm 58 now, and just spent 4 - 5 years on a spiritual journey, which covered the Lutheran Church, the Catholic Church, Judaism, Islam, Sufi Islam, Hindu/Krishna, Buddhism, Wicca, and presently Celtic Christianity, In the end, I truly believe in Jesus. His teachings transcend all..... That to me is all that matters. The rest is just labels, which causes more harm than good if you ask me.

I stopped calling myself a Christian decades ago, and I've since become a Rosicrucian. Rosicrucians consider the Master Jesus as a teacher, mentor, and prime example of how to live. Everything Richard Rohr says is consistent with Rosicrucian teachings. Jesus was a spiritual leader, not a religious one.

Knowing God is easy. Just read Jesus' words in the Bible, and pray to God thru Him, and practice obeying what Jesus taught as written in the Scriptures. Jesus made every other religious teacher blocking the Way to God and enslaving men in dead faith and empty religion.... He opened the Door to Heaven and made everyone else religiously irrelevant.

With due respect, Fr. Rohr, Jesus was not a pacifist and confronted evil. 1. You quote the Beatitudes Matthew 5:3-10 about peacemakers, but if you read just few verses below in verse 21-22 Jesus says: “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister[b][c] will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’[d] is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. Jesus clearly went a step beyond "thou shalt not kill", just because a life is incapable of defending itself doesn't mean we can deny and terminate it. 2. Jesus made a whip of cords and drove out money changers from the Temple. He did this out of zeal for the house of God. If he was against violence, why did he do this? Because he was against mindless violence stemming from hatred, ego and pride. But his whipping in the temple was chastisement born out of love. Divine Truth and Justice are non-negotiable 3. Jesus said in Matthew 10:34-36 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn “‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law- a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household." I feel your argument makes the same error you seem to be trying to combat - the misinterpretation of Christ's message. Christ clearly an unequivocally condemned injustice and discrimination in his day. Accepted lepers, prostitutes, tax collectors, women caught in adultery, even if it meant standing up to the culture. That's why they hated him, plotted against and killed him. If we want to follow his example, we cannot but stand for the unborn because they are the lepers and outcasts of today. May God grant eternal rest and peace to all victims of violence and those denied their right to life. And may He grant wisdom and understanding to people to know His love for these little ones.

Jesus made it clear, he is no part of the system of this world. He allows it's rulers to continue trying every form of government imaginable, so that in the end, it will be admitted that He did not create Humankind to rule itself. If the United States put down it's arms right now, there would be such anarchy, the Quakers, Amish, and Mennonite men would be thrown out of their property with nothing, including their wives and children, who might even be raped before their eyes before they leave peacefully as you say they are. Their wives and children would be finished off after, through the torture.

BALTIMORE CATECHISM #3 LESSON 16 - ON THE GIFTS AND FRUITS OF THE HOLY GHOST Q. 707. Why do we receive the gift of Wisdom? A. We receive the gift of Wisdom to give us a relish for the things of God, and to direct our whole life and all our actions to His honor and glory. Q. 708. Which are the Beatitudes? A. The Beatitudes are: 1. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 2. Blessed are the meek, for they shall possess the land. 3. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. 4. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice, for they shall be filled. 5. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. 6. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God. 7. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. 8. Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Q. 709. What are the Beatitudes and why are they so called? A. The Beatitudes are a portion of Our Lord's Sermon on the Mount, and they are so called because each of them holds out a promised reward to those who practice the virtues they recommend. Q. 710. Where did Our Lord usually preach? A. Our Lord usually preached wherever an opportunity of doing good by His Words presented itself. He preached at times in the synagogues or meeting-houses but more frequently in the open air -- by the seashore or on the mountain, and often by the wayside. Q. 711. What is the meaning and use of the Beatitudes in general? A. 1. In general the Beatitudes embrace whatever pertains to the perfection of Christian life, and they invite us to the practice of the highest Christian virtues. 2. In different forms they all promise the same reward, namely, sanctifying grace in this life and eternal glory in the next. 3. They offer us encouragement and consolation for every trial and affliction. Q. 712. What does the first Beatitude mean by the "poor in spirit"? A. The first Beatitude means by the "poor in spirit" all persons, rich or poor, who would not offend God to possess or retain anything that this world can give; and who, when necessity or charity requires it, give willingly for the glory of God. It includes also those who humbly submit to their condition in life when it cannot be improved by lawful means. Q. 713. Who are the mourners who deserve the consolation promised in the third Beatitude? A. The mourners who deserve the consolation promised in the third Beatitude are they who, out of love for God, bewail their own sins and those of the world; and they who patiently endure all trials that come from God or for His sake. Q. 714. What lessons do the other Beatitudes convey? A. The other Beatitudes convey these lessons: The meek suppress all feelings of anger and humbly submit to whatever befalls them by the Will of God; and they never desire to do evil for evil. The justice after which we should seek is every Christian virtue included under that name, and we are told that if we earnestly desire and seek it we shall obtain it. The persecuted for justice' sake are they who will not abandon their faith or virtue for any cause. Q. 715. Who may be rightly called merciful? A. The merciful are they who practice the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, and who aid by word or deed those who need their help for soul or body. Q. 716. Why are the clean of heart promised so great a reward? A. The clean of heart, that is, the truly virtuous, whose thoughts, desires, words and works are pure and modest, are promised so great a reward because the chaste and sinless have always been the most intimate friends of God. Q. 717. What is the duty of a peacemaker? A. It is the duty of a peacemaker to avoid and prevent quarrels, reconcile enemies, and to put an end to all evil reports of others or evil speaking against them. As peacemakers are called the children of God, disturbers of peace should be called the children of the devil. Q. 718. Why does Our Lord speak in particular of poverty, meekness, sorrow, desire for virtue, mercy, purity, peace and suffering? A. Our Lord speaks in particular of poverty, meekness, sorrow, desire for virtue, mercy, purity, peace and suffering because these are the chief features in His own earthly life; poverty in His birth, life and death; meekness in His teaching; sorrow at all times. He eagerly sought to do good, showed mercy to all, recommended chastity, brought peace, and patiently endured suffering. Q. 719. Which are the twelve fruits of the Holy Ghost? A. The twelve fruits of the Holy Ghost are Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Benignity, Goodness, Long-suffering, Mildness, Faith, Modesty, Continency, and Chastity. Q. 720. Why are charity, joy, peace, etc., called fruits of the Holy Ghost? A. Charity, joy, peace, etc., are called fruits of the Holy Ghost because they grow in our souls out of the seven gifts of the Holy Ghost.

The Truth Jesus came to teach is Love! Love your neighbor as yourself, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Such simple yet powerful truths and guidelines that, if applied, could change the world. Love is simple, and it is self-evident; although not easy to practice. Knowing Love is the beginning of changing the world. Too many were and still are living according to false beliefs, instead of Love. Jesus came to try to change that, to be a voice in a vast desert of misunderstandings; and Jesus continues to be a voice for Love. Jesus has never really left us, Jesus has never ceased being in service to humanity and our beautiful planet. Jesus came to change people's hearts and minds, but most people don't like their beliefs questioned; people who do this will always be attacked by the ignorant, the narrow-minded and the power-hungry. Mistaken beliefs come from Satan and support Satan, and Satan doesn't want his monopoly on beliefs disturbed. Such beliefs uphold the hierarchy and the supposed superiority of the few at the top, and Jesus came to earth to topple that; by promoting equality, freedom, peace and happiness for all. If this situation sounds familiar, it's because not much has changed over the centuries. Satan is still in power, and creating inequality and unhappiness for all; even for those at the top.
