Thanks for a solid video. I use the same module for my antiquated auto gate opener and it has worked flawlessly 4 years and counting. MyQ/Chamerlain/Liftmaster is beyond stupid for not syncing with Alexa. If not for a workaround I would trash my Liftmaster MyQ and go with a more friendly, app sharing company. MyQ no longer works with Simple Command and I'm not paying the extortionists at IFTTT its annual subscription rate, not even if it was a $1/year.
@freespeech20073 жыл бұрын
I agree, that is what drove me to this, especaily when MYQ wanted 10 a year for half hearted controls.

thanks, just got a 4 channel wifi switch from amazon, got 2 of my garage doors to open, but couldn't get the myQ compatible one to work... I'll try this out. Awesome

I got the Sonoff switch and thought I would just hook it up to the garage door like on all the videos I watched and bam door Wi-Fi operated from an app, but nothing happened. The lights on the program arrows would blink but nothing would happen to the door. I Scoured the internet all day trying to find a fix and nothing till I found your video, thanks to you problem solve at 12:11am. Did a test with two wires to make sure it worked and it did so I soldered them to the switch button and now my garage door is a smart door. Sorry Chamberlain no monetary funds from this guy. Thank again.

Search for and Download the iPhone eWeLink Smart Home app. It’s the one with a blue icon with a white print e in the lower left quadrant. With that installed power up the unit. I used the micro-USB plug and you can use any 5v USB wall wart. I used a spare Apple one I had lying around - worked great. Open the app. If you’ve already tried unsuccessfully to pair and your unit is listed, select it and delete it. Now click on the PLUS sign at the bottom. On the next page disregard everything but the faint blue link at the bottom that says “Compatible Pairing Mode (AP)” Cool but busy pic on the next page. Here’s what it’s telling you to do: Push the Setting Button, (the one next to the micro-USB port) and hold it for about five seconds until the little red light next to it starts to ‘double flash’. Release it and then push it again for about another five seconds until it changes to a rapid single flash. Now go to your iPhone -- Settings - Wi-Fi page and when you see the network “ITEAD and some numbers” listed, select it. (This is only temporary, you won’t at all screw up your phone’s Wi-Fi) It’ll want the password. It’s: 12345678. Join. Go back to the eWeLink app. At the bottom select ‘Next’. It’ll want the name and password for your actual personal Wi-Fi network. Type in the SSID and password for your 2.4G Wi-Fi network. Make sure ‘Remember Password’ is checked and select Next. It’ll take about a minute or so and then it’ll tell you you’ve been successfully paired. It’ll give you a chance to Rename the device. Garage Door? To use it as a momentary “wall doorbell-type” button for your garage opener, press the other little Mode Toggle Button, just below the one you’ve been pushing, to turn off it’s red light. Now you should be able to press the screen virtual ‘button’ on your phone’s app to cause the third red light just below the big blue relay to momentarily flash. You’re now capable of controlling via the app. Go to the Alexa app and select ‘Skills’ from the menu and at the top Search for and Enable the “eWeLink Smart Home Fan” skill. Go back to the Alexa menu and select Smart Home. Choose Add Device. Once it finds it you can use Alexa’s screen virtual ‘button’ to activate the relay. Finally, verbally tell Alexa to “Activate Garage Door” and the relay light should flash. Remember this is a dumb switch. If the door is open it will close it and vice-versa, just like the button on your garage wall. Using a couple of feet of bell wire, insert one end of the wires into the connectors with little screws on top at the far end of the board - one into the center ‘COM’ (common) and the other into the ‘NO’ (normally open). It’s printed on the back of the board which is which. Temporarily unplug the opener. Plug the wall wart into the other half of the same AC outlet where the garage door opener is (normally) plugged in, and use wire ties to mount the unit on the opener supports. Connect the other end of the bell wires to the opener. I have a Chamberlain. On the side of the opener there are two sets of connectors with wires attached. The ones on the right have two pairs of wires - those are from the safety sensors. You’ll use the connectors next to them on the left which will probably already have one or two sets of wires connected to them from your garage wall button(s). They’re just push-in connectors. Plug in the opener. DISCLAIMER: Copied and pasted from "Amazon FRANK KOSSLER's Review" for easier reference.

Does it work with ewelink app? Because I only put the two wires to the garage door from the outside and the lights do go on (the light with the arrow up lites up ones and then the light with the arrow down lites up two or three times) but the garage door doesn't work

What are the advantages to soldering the wires to the wall switch like you did Vs. tapping into the wires going from the wall switch to the garage door opener like Kesh did?
@freespeech20076 жыл бұрын
@brett hawton, for me it did not work, my unit switch has much more control then a simple opening fucntion, the light swtich, the learn button, the 3 other funtions on that panel, would not let a direct plugging into or splicing to work with my Chamberlain unit. So soldiering was the ONLY way i could get around that. I tried EVERY-WHICH way possible and no matter what I did a splice in would only cause the yellow light on the wall unit switch to flash and not open.
