Not gonna lie, my car won't even let me downshift 2 gears without serious force into the shifter, even at reasonable rpms. Could also be that it is because its a 2002, 1liter sh!tbox of a car but it's still quite fun for 900 bucks and fairly reliable at that.

It's not the craziest thing. You are not driving. The engine is not producing a lot of heat to warm up and maybe you are even using your heaters, which take the heat from your engine.
