What an awesome 1980 season for Coop. My personal choice for AL MVP, due especially to the number of games played by Brett was significantly fewer. And that darn 1981 strike that stole fabulously stats from Cooper, Schmidt, Rose (on his way to another 200 plus yr), George Foster and of course, Rick Manning... 😂

I always enjoyed Bobby Tolans batting stance. He was clutch cargo for The Phils in 1976. 1975 stats: 58 runs 129 hits 19 doubles 4 tripls 5 hr's 43 rbi's .255

Neat how this involves Jeff Brantley, Barry Larkin, and Thom Brennaman--all Reds broadcasters. And Dusty Baker is mentioned too, who would later be a Reds manager.

I remember this, I was 19 years old. Darnell Coles also had a cannon for an arm. I really thought he would be at the hot corner for the Tigers for 10-15:years. Was bummed that he didn't work out.

Had to chuckle at the drama in the Yankee clubhouse. Sooo typical of those mid-70's teams. Was this the year that Steinbrenner fired Billy Martin and Bob Lemon took them to the series?
