Great interview, as always! Katie - you’ve mentioned Steph Rice a few times on the pod and think it would be so cool to do a “rivals” podcast interviewing her (and maybe her interviewing you a little too!) It would be fascinating to see two former rivals’ perceptions of each other and how you’ve become friends since.

Mollie. Ok. Now that you have gone through and have transitioned from teenager into adulthood. You are at your peak. Life awaits! (it is also true that you have learned so much and have so much to learn. A 71 year old Steve has a lot to learn too.) Now. Mollie is a perfectionist of perfectionists.(This can be the best gift Mollie has.) And she thrives when she's under team setting where the team has her back. I am going to be very honest, tenacious is not Mollie's innate trait. It is a learned trait. And she can be even more tenacious than someone who is innately tenacious. /Sorry sorry. Mollie is a tenacious person; It is something she is born with. There are two types of tenacious. Tenacious[persistence] Tenacious[determination]. Mollie leans more towards the first one. 👍/ If Mollie can find someone who is the headstrong of headstrongs and share the perfectionistic trait that she has; who is willing to give her full support. The sky is the limit for this young lady. Katie, Missy. This is a fantastic episode. 👍

What an amazing way to spend my Wednesday afternoon listening to this podcast! It was so inspiring, Mollie is such an amazing person, not only an Olympic and world champion and a world record holder! I'm Italian and I felt such an intense emotion watching to the first 200m freestyle Olympic event last summer without our queen Federica Pellegrini since 2004. I cheered for Mollie and I was so happy about her achievement and about Federica giving her the gold medal. But now that I've heard this podcast, I'm happier than before because I didn't know it was a sort of "double gold" for Mollie. She won the race but she also won her battle against that anxiety which didn't even let her sleep during the Olympic trials. She deserves the best! What an amazing soul she has 🥹 Last but not least, THANK YOU Missy and Katie from the bottom of my heart because I really love the way you can comunicate with every guest and let us understand what is behind every achievement, even the hardest things and moments every athlet has to get through. You both are amazing 🫶🏻

McKenzie Coan. Hands down. A very strong woman. She has gone through a lot. She didn't give up. She did the opposite. She has learned and matured. She is confident and happy. I can see she how committed and focused she is. It's also true she loves to engage and talk. I can see that. Haha. And I believe she has done the best for herself. And hands down, legs down, has paid off. A lovely girl. Thank you McKenzie.

It is not uncommon, the post-Olympic depression. I hope future Champions should be aware of this.(make sure it doesn't happen) Because if they know they are going to have mental illness and be trapped in Depression; they will not want to be Olympic/Paralympic champion.

I actually competed in the same summer league as McKenzie and raced her brother throughout my entire childhood. I almost teared up when she mentioned how some lady questioned her swimming abilities because every summer I remember before her races you could hear people murmur and at times even underestimate her. Funny enough, she was consistently still beating other swimmers who didn't have disabilities... What is most impressive through all of this is how she carried herself. She was so sincere and always had a smile on her face no matter what people may have thought of her. I still remember talking to her at one meet and she was the kindest, most genuine person (and also funny lol). I'm so glad to see the success she's accomplished, huge fan.

I have watched so many of your podcasts and each one is so unique and powerful but hearing life from McKenzie’s perspective is just so touching and beautiful. I think about all the times I have had a rough practice simply out of being exhausted but this amazing woman had so many things thrown at her yet continued to push/follow her dreams and continues to inspire others. Beautiful podcast!

*Sooooo you got 14yos running around with grown men, and shes fine with this, tells me enough about the Olympics, 14 drinking is also wild. But its dramatized...*
@archiesshowtell809419 күн бұрын
She didn’t say she was drinking at 14. Seriously you have taken a snippet of a convo and twisted it. Also she was talking about herself at 14 so your “and she’s fine with this” sounds ridiculous when she was referring to media training about the questions they get about the village.

I have seen 4 episodes so far. 🤭 (Summer, Alex, Crissy, Missy&Katie) 👍

This is why great swimmers always say "stay in my own lane" "swim my own race". She DQed bc she was peeking the competition. Still think she could have apologized to Kate for shrugging off her hug after the race. I don't know why but I can't unsee that.
