No frame or hoop, I do use a book for tension. You can learn all about my approach in my on-demand Improv Hand Quilting class. It's 40% off this December with the code: BIRTHDAY www.heidiparkes.com/shop/hand-quilting-workshop

Thank you for sharing. I love that you share stories about the artist and their techniques. Knowing that something was created by thrifted materials, or just sock thread, etc. really transforms the viewing experience.

Thank you, yes! The stories do add so much to the work, and seeing the scale too!

I'm very much enjoying this series and the wonderful work of all the artists. My year year ahead is rather full and I'm looking to 2026, however, the Diary Quilt class has peaked my interest. Thank you, everyone!

My circle class on Creativebug would help a lot! It's free to watch in October 2024, and just 23-minutes. www.heidiparkes.com/blog/2024/circles

I like the story quilt with the fire and apple trees and I especially like the old girl ( not as old as me!) My mum and her mother both had/have very bad macular degeneration, I figure I have about 14 more years of eyesight and am working like a demon. Sometimes I get lazy and only get a few hours of stitching in, but that's ok.

I really relate to Barbara's focus on generosity to her practice especially interms of time: i too tend to work in obsessive spurts with whatever comes to my hand and be afraid of not finishing since there are so many projects i havent finished, as well as avoiding labor intensive projects, though i have so many beautiful labor intensive ideas. Hearing how generosity, replacing limiting beliefs, and conscious choice-making honored her creativity was very helpful

It's so exciting that all 4 of us are in an exhibition together right now in South Bend, Indiana at the South Bend Museum of Art, up till mid November 2024. ❤️ Seeing Ai's work in person and up close at the show was really amazing. It lays so flat, with clean edges- impeccable craftsmanship.

How does the sleeve get sewn? 😊
@HeidiParkes2 ай бұрын
Eventually I hope to have a class on making the sleeve with Creativebug! I've sewn them with a machine and by hand. I use a rotary cutter, mat, and a big ruler to cut accurately.

for me, art is not art unless you'd want to display it in your home or in your garden. if you want it in your home, then it's art for you
