Crazy to think the lt1 c4s were being sold as cheap as 1-3k three years ago and lt4 cars were only higher when a collector owned them.

Looking at these for my c5 corvette, any updates or complaints about tires

Not one complaint! These things rock! They hold 490whp/563tq and put the power down in this car. No regrets, do it!

why do i see so many late model C4s with the front wheels mounted in the wrong direction ?
@mattquerio3 күн бұрын
It's so common to see any year C4 with wheels mounted the wrong direction. I think it's simply that people don't pay attention, and so few vehicles have true directional wheels.

I "Daily " drive mine every "daily" and thoroughly enjoy it. These cars are MEANT to be driven. That's what they were built to do and not to be Gaulked at and admired. If you take care of your vehicle, even if it's not a corvette, it will take care of you. So, Matt Quero, you got a little money for this stupid story. Are you happy now? I can't believe that people are making money on KZbin with their BULLSHIT. GET A REAL JOB, MATT.

I have less than 2000 subscribers. Do you really think I'm making substantial money? I have a real job. I'm a CNC programmer/Machinist. I do this for a hobby. My channel is more or less my journal. If people watch and enjoy, great. I'm not sure why you're so upset.

The problem is your roads are too wide and too straight. They are great on our narrow twisty little roads we have over here in the UK. Have had my 1973 RWA 1275 Midget since 1987. Unfortunately it spent most of the last 30 years in bits in a barn. But it has now been rescued and restored and will be back on the country lanes of Shropshire soon.

@mattquerio16 күн бұрын
In late 2021 into mid 2022, yes. Not now, however. The market for all hobby cars (at least the sub 100k stuff) is way down. Great time to buy though. Gen 1 vipers out here for 30k with clean titles.

Stock?
@mattquerio21 күн бұрын
All mods were done 20 years ago by a previous owner. I'm assuming all internals are stock. I also assume it's a stock cam. It has shaft mount T&D roller rockers, unknown ratio but I assume 1.7, it has crower valve springs, unknown brand headers, and it has been converted to gen 1 sidepipes which probably actually doesn't help power. It has 70mm throttle bodies, and a modified airbox to have true 70mm intake tubes through the whole tract. Dyno'd 490whp and it traps 124.24mph in the 1/4 mile as it sits.

Im in the market for a c4 as it's my dream car from when I was in high school. But a c5 would be even better but I only have 10k saved to get something.
@mattquerio20 күн бұрын
The C5 is objectively a better car but at the same time the C4 is plenty serviceable, plenty powerful, and imo has a more classic design.

@mattquerio20 күн бұрын
Not at all. They are all capable. The better maintained it has been, the less work you'll have to do! Keep that in mind, and check the age of the tires:)
@mattrva131725 күн бұрын
I've got a 94 LT1, I'd agree with you on the value aspect. The C4 collectable is gonna be an LT4 or maybe an LT1 6 speed. That said, if you want a Vette to drive and not be a garage queen, get an old L98 or Lt1, throw a catback on it and enjoy the experience, wrench on it, and just enjoy the drive. They still out handle almost everything on the road.
@mattquerio20 күн бұрын
You really can't go wrong with any C4 for the money.

From Michigan. I use a 1998 monte carlo for the winter. But i was planing to buy one of these 1996 models. I really like these cars and there really isnt
@myshroom127729 күн бұрын
Isn't any alternative for a cool car around the 10k or cheaper price range. And people that arnt into cars say there very unreliable and get awfull gas milage but I actually consider them more reliable then most 2016 cars. (Just don't buy a shitbox for 3k )
@myshroom127729 күн бұрын
One of the only other cars I like alot is the mistubishi 3000gt vr4. But the vr4 is very hard to find and often goes for 20k wich is to much
@mattquerio19 күн бұрын
These C4s are very reliable, as long as they haven't been neglected or sitting dormant for a decade. The gas mileage is really great for what they are. I routinely averaged 20-21 per tank, and near 30 highway! I agree, there is nothing in this price range that compares! And I also agree about reliability. Port fuel injected naturally aspirated V8.. not much to go wrong.
@myshroom127714 күн бұрын
@mattquerio that's honestly not bad. 20mpg?? My 1998 monte has been getting 15mpg. Wich it should be getting more but somthing wrong with the evap and likely has other issues

@Luis-xy7cvАй бұрын
MG Midgets are awesome. The round wheel arch does look better. I'm planning to get my Midget back on the road. I'm doing "R and R" which stands for "remove and replace" the engine bits like the master cylinder, the distributor, the twin carburettors and muffler. When I had the Midget on the road here in Australia, people would wave at me, other classic car would also wave at me. It would drive so beautifully like formula one meets a go cart. It was fun. Even now tradies turn up at my house to do a job, but see the car and want to buy it off me.

Do these run thinner than other 335s tire brands. Or do they look true to size

They certainly look true to size to me. They measure the same as the R888s that came off the car. Hope this helps!

Nice car. Funny how he down plays manual climate control.. I had a 87 and now own a 82 both with auto climate control (punch button). Wish it they were manuals, less things to go bad, especially the contacts on the buttons. The 87, early c4, half of the controls did not work.

@mattquerioАй бұрын
It's perfectly level, but you can raise the rear by tightening the nut further :)
@383corvette1Ай бұрын
You can absolutely daily a c4. Why couldn't you? Look at it from this prospective. At 1 point in time people were daily driving big block corvettes. 426 Hemi's, 440 six packs, 454's, 455's, big block fords. All on relatively small bias ply tires, year-round. When I had my 85 vette with a 383 in it I drove it for a couple years, year-round. That was a fun winter toy. Tight rebuilt posi rear, would do donuts like no other.
@Warrior-XАй бұрын

I have to disagree about your automatic theory my wife's car is a rare Corvette factory coupe Black Rose metallic paint arctic white sports leather seats and it is a factory Z07 car with 20,000 original miles fully loaded every option. It is documented of being one of one built they made one automatic and 1 six-speed. It is documented with build sheet and window sticker. Car has no modifications only thing it's been changed are the tires and battery.
@mattquerioАй бұрын
And it's still worth less than a 6 speed Z07 in any color.
@scottmontgomery8809Ай бұрын
I beg to differ just because it's a 6-speed doesn't mean it's more valuable. especially when you have the only one built in an automatic. I have had over 30 Corvettes in my lifetime and I am a collector of many cars I believe ours and the right market will sell for a hell of a lot more then what people think@@mattquerio
@eclecticcars9527Ай бұрын
Really cool insights on driving experience and ownership, I would have thought would be impossible to find a reasonable price on a set of tires for these.
@mattquerioАй бұрын
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yeah, the cheap tires have been great so far.
@eclecticcars9527Ай бұрын
Why not go for a ZR1? Especially as many time C4 owner, the premium is negligible for the performance/special factor
@mattquerioАй бұрын
Well, you can get a mint LT4 for 15k tops, for a ZR1 you'd have to double that number, and often times a bit more than that. The bargain factor of a ZR1 isn't as good as the LT4. That said, I'd love to get my hands on a ZR1 to hear that LT5 sing.
