The Mark 2 is always ham-strung by the weight of the engine - too heavy / too tall / too far forwards - and the narrow rear track due to the shell tapering towards the rear.The time spent on widening the front wings would have been better spent in subtly massaging the REAR wings to accommodate a wider rear track, rather than simply flaring the back arches. (If you look at other cars with the same general body-shape - Gerald Palmer's MG Magnette / Riley Pathfinder etc, he had the same falling boot line, but didn't taper the rear of the shell, so the track is the same front and rear.)

I've heard putting a small amount of good diesel in with your tank of unleaded will help lubricant the cylinder head and clean the injectors/carb? I was told by would renowned four stroke motorcycle champion to add a cap of good quality oil to a full tank of petrol when running at race speeds to lubricate the cylinder head,I did this often with no bad side effects and the engine actually seemed to run better when running at full revs

"Lane Keep Assist" software is something that many owners of other cars turn off immediately. It's just crazy that it's an NCAP feature. NCAP should be based on what happens in a crash and nothing else because you could be hit head-on by a car without electronic "safety features".

Filled a Berlingo with petrol once. The engine was hot so I drove it about 45miles and parked it up. Next day it wouldn't start. Now having some space in the tank from the previous drive, I topped it up with new vegetable oil from the corner shop and then rocked the thing back and forth for about 10minutes causing some interesting conversations from neighbours. The old thing fired up after a few caughs and I drove it back home again. Topped it up with diesel and she was fine.

Quite an exhilarating ride along !! I think rally is THE best form of motorsport, combining man and machine, speed and skill and the embodiment of excitement !! I recall many years ago watching a rally segment with an in car camera pointed right at Marcus Gronholm's face as he did a rather long leg thru a forested area. I was blown away to note that he NEVER blinked once !!! I guess if you did that could be rather catastrophic tho !!!

No offense to commenters but half of you are blindfully ignorant and it's clear have never driven either. I will leave this here for whoever wants information that is correct regarding the matter. First. Yes the cup car is on slicks. You cannot just put slicks on the 992RS. especially not the CUP car tyre. Furthermore you cannot just slap the 992RS tyre on the cup car. Second. 992RS even WITH the suspension adjustment via electronics is JUST A SMALL WINDOW. At no extreme of the electronics can you get the suspension stiff enough without the physical changes. Third. The Cup car HAS NO ABS AND NO TCS. The road car does. No matter how GOOD of a driver the journalist is, he will ALWAYS be closer to the limit in the 992RS because of all the HELP available. 992 CUP car you are on your own. This is the MAIN reason why track day people struggle with buying a cup car instead of tracking an RS. Fourth. Before anything, the 992RS would have benefited more from a track alignment than any other change. It would be the first thing to do if you are tracking the 992RS and don't drive too far to get to the circuit.
