Playing this game patiently and grinding to dominate each dungeon is so much fun. Speed running it looks stressful by comparison. Makes this great WR that much more impressive to me.

Here I choose completely different strategy than yours, I think this level could be possible faster, but must play it once more. Yes you are able. Divide room into halves/thirds/quartiers. Make tough walls, instead of minions torture some of them possible, somehow, no idea. However, do not attack the white territory before you are not walled around.

I guess the white Reapers took their time and ended the game just in time for me to explode white heart. Notice how I can't end the game immediately after white heart is destroyed:)

One of my most favorite maps too. At first a bit scary but soon very satisfying. The main campaign is so boring compared to deeper dungeons where you have to get really creative with the limitations.

I like keeperfx but it's kind a pity that game play mechanics are modified heavily. Suddenly you can dig through fortified walls, horny can't be calmed down with gold anymore and ghosts can go through closed doors. IDK... Just played the original campaign yesterday and realized the heavy mods in comparison to the original.

I guess, but sometimes he takes 7 minutes to open, and sometimes 15 minutes... But you're probably right. White kills Yellow (with your help), and then pray that green and blue fight and then you finish them too.

I don't understand, why do you make a speedrun and using cheats/glitches? And if you do so, why do you use just some of them? You can also speed up the game or use computer assistance, This kind of speedrunning is little bit weird to me, I like the game just as it is, no glitches, no cheats, no fcking imps for 150 gold even when you have 100 of them...

These are some fundamental philosophical questions to speedrunning which I alone cannot answer. The simple answer is; we try to finish the game as quickly as possible without 3rd party intervention. This would mean that games that have a speed-up function could technically use that, but probably there'd be multiple categories, as that kind of run usually isn't much fun to watch. But it does mean to utilize exploits and glitches, however the way they are treated are very selective from community to community. The only consistent permanent category is the any% category, which then includes all native glitches in the game. If you, personally, dislike seeing speedruns with glitches, a common category that exist in many games is the "glitchless" or "no major exploits" category. Notable examples are Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time, where, for a long time the any% category was the most popular one, until a glitch was discovered that allowed you to warp to the end. The any% category was preserved, but most of the players created the category "no wrong warp" which still contained the other bugs that didn't completely skip the game. I'm sorry you didn't appreciate the run.

Any reason you are not getting the Bile Demon and the Mistress that you can recruit from the map on the far west and far east respectively? You dig right next to them in this run and It's free real state

@@OssianOtt the temple is good for many things; primarily we speedrunners use it to get 255 u its, by sacrifining and summoning imps. That makes it impossibile for more units to spawn. Otherise the temple can be used to sacrifice units in order to get stronger units, primarily the horned reaper, or to get beficial buffs :)

Temples do many things, such as: - calming angered creatures, if droppet om edges of the room, not water -sacrificing certain creatures rewards other, stronger creatures or other buffs, for example drop 1 troll, 1 mistress and 1 bile demon rewards a horned reaper, dropping imps lowers their price, 2 flys iirc researches a spell and so on, the list of sacrificing recipes can be found in the wiki -protects creatures of their type from being scavenged, iirc example 1 bile demon circling the room protects for 3 bile demons from being scavenged -bad sacrifices results in gods punishing in various ways, ie drop a chicken in water, all the chicken from all your hatcheries die, drop a vampire and all your creatures get sick, drop a horned reaper and all your creatures get mad etc -bonus, if you drop a human, the narrator says "gods do not care of your sacrific!" , and nothing happens. Drop a gold pile in single player, narrator says" this is no wishing well, keeper! ", but if you drop in multiplayer and you have a teammate, the gold goes for the teammate. I might remember something wrong, its been a while ive played this game

The temple is one of the most powerful rooms in the game next to the graveyard. You sacrifice units for example, (imps reduce spawning costs), if you spam imps and kill them, you can take them to the graveyard to mass spawn vampires. Vampires in mass, can easily kill the avatar.

@@jensrobot it depends, generally square rooms have better efficiency, so I want to save the ones provided from the start for libraries, as I need research the most. That leaves me with no additional space, and its in this regard placing solo ones in a corridor provide good value.

Impressive result, but I'm not sure I've got what happened. The white troops didn't find a path to your dungeon; they were afraid of the cave-in spell and fled towards the hero gate; but how could such a low amount of damage kill the Avatar?

Thank you! You are correct; the flee to the point of origin, or their lair, or a heart, when affected by Cave-In. The low amount of damage turns into a massive amount of damage when you take in to account that I cast Cave-In for a worth of 100.000 gold, then the damage is substantial :)

I'll gladly answer! 1. The game has a limit on how many units can be in a map, this limit is 255 units. By summoning to the max, the Avatar (who is supposed to reincarnate with a ****ton of level 10 heroes), cannot respawn, and the game checks after he spawns, Is he alive? And as he never spawned, you win instantly. 2. The Guard Posts can be used to block off the water from the Tentacles completely, but this particular pattern makes the Tentacles believe that they can reach my heart, but the pathing is too bad, so they get stuck there instead. This makes it very easy to deal with them, as they need to be killed before the Avatar "respawns". 3. Traditionally in other games, you need to disclose all efforts made to present a result to a IL. In the Dungeon Keeper community, we have an understanding on which creatures that _usually_ can be transferred to a level, which is based upon the fastest current full game strat. Right now the allowed creature to transfer is a Priestress. It's a bit complex, but I do also think that maybe a level 10 Reaper wouldn't necessarily be quicker, as you need the research, which the Priestress does very well...

Congrats on this WR! Very cool run! Looking at the level timings, I wonder if it's possible to speed up levels 11 and 17? I understand that these levels require killing or capturing the enemy knight that spawns with the last hero parties. But has anyone studied the game's code enough to see if it's possible to break the rules of hero spawns to speed things up? The use of bugs and skips has always surprised me in speedrunning. It would be great to find something like that here.

Thank you! As of currently, the only way to speed them up is to increase frames per seconds which is not allowed according to game rules. The script is rather robust sadly, with a separate timer running till the end and spawning the party at the end of it.

@@bndrkeeper7244 That's a bummer! Almost half of the speedrun time is in these 2 levels... That's why I think that there is huge potential here. If only it was possible somehow. So, Im guessing that nothing in the code affects the timer. It just sets up in the beginning of a level and ticks to the end. And if so, that sucks. Seeing Castlevania recent level skip hacks, buffer overflows can do magic sometimes...

If she's speeded with a speed for too long, it might end just as you want to clip or larer on when you want to run to Horny, to make that run you want a full 55 second speed just before you clip so that tou can keep hitting at maximum speed.

So there's this really fun thing on Blaise, which is if you trigger landlord too fast after destroying the heart, you don't win. And as I, in my strat, go for the reveal all map, I can be really fast. The issue in the script (YM explained) was that the landlord spawns ON the heart, and the hearts destruction animation is not instant, but like 2-3 seconds. If you trigger landlord within that timeframe, he will actually spawn, and you cannot win the map at that point. But if you wait until the heart is properly destroyed, he loses his spawn point, and the map assumes he is dead and you win. So lost two runs to that "bug", it was infuriating as fugskrkrnfn

Thank you! I am playing on the KeeperFX mod, and in earlier versions (and in the original game?) it is possible to possess and tunnel through neutral walls that do not belong to any player. for level 14 your commentary wasn't accurate. You can't get slowed by those wizards because wizards get slow at level 9+. Edit: I see he let that wizard hit the horny so many times the wizard actually levelled up to 9 lol. So I guess technically you're correct.

Thanks! There's a hard limit on the total amount of creatures allowed per map, capped at 255. By summoning Imps to hit that ceiling, the Avatar cannot respawn, and the game checks "if he's dead, you win" and since he doesn't respawn, I win :)
