Detailed and forthright review. English is impeccable. I almost.pulled my hair out deciding.which to get. Its gettin closest to this now. A question. Hows the sound system? Tinny ? I 'd hate to mess with the warranty though sales person kept assuring me that plugnplay is fine
@chesterautotalk6 ай бұрын
Can vouch for the sound system in this car. definitely one of the best stock sound systems at this price range especially with the bass enhancer turned on. (Would argue it is almost on par with branded sound systems like B&O minus the thump from the subwoofer) No complaints so far. If you have the chance to try it out, my settings are as follows: Bass +5 Mid +2 Treble +2

How is the fuel efficiency after a fews years for turbo cars? How is the resale value for turbo cars in Malaysia?
@chesterautotalk Жыл бұрын
Fuel efficiency still around 6l/100km after nearly 3 years of ownership. Not much differences compared to brand new. Can’t comment too much on resale value but traditionally Nissan has a lower resale value compared to Toyota or Honda.

@@chesterautotalk did you have to request for a manual car? don't want to end up getting a FWD CVT version of the car 😂

Yes indeed! Be sure to choose the manual transmission and 4WD on the website to make sure you are renting the right model.

@@mattcee7113 Oh no how did I miss out this comment? You are exactly right! So one method to ensure you're getting the real GR Yaris is to select MT and 4WD options on the Toyota Rent a Car website.

Looking to buy one soon, but quite worried about the reliability of the car. Has it given you any problem since you bought it?
@chesterautotalk Жыл бұрын
So far for me, 30,000km in and no issues at all. I suspect the X-Tronic CVT would be quite delicate given its reputation, so I intend to change the CVT fluid at 42,000km (factory recommends 84,000km) just to be safe.
@miltonmiles6324 Жыл бұрын
@@chesterautotalk Is the CVT on the Almera known to be a problematic one?
@chesterautotalk Жыл бұрын
@@miltonmiles6324 From my understanding, the CVT is the same unit found from the B17 Sylphy (Jatco CVT7), but with software and valve body improvements to improve reliability. A quick Google search found that valve body was one of the main failure points for Jatco CVTs in the past. From my experience, the CVT on the Almera works well, with not as much rubber-band effect compared to other peers. The CVT noise/whine is minimal, and thanks long gear ratio, the cruising RPM at motorway speeds are impressively low. Can't comment much on the reliability for now having only done 33,000kms on the car, but the CVT fluid replacement interval is at a whopping 84,000km/7 years. Probably too long of an interval for a CVT fluid replacement, so I will do it at half the interval, or 42,000km for a peace of mind.

I haven’t noticed much of the CVT delay, instead I find the throttle to be over sensitive. One little gripe is the center console always gets in the way when I try to drive with my legs spread out

Blipping the throttle for external noise/attention to others is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard 😉 My i30N performance pack before the GR4 did sound very good, but it was oem and adjustable. I've not bothered changing the exhaust on mine. The internal fake sounds are OK, a shame they're not more aggressive, especially just pre 7K! Plus you get the turbo whistles when the windows are down. Again, imo, no interest in modification to make it sound like bus doors constantly opening and closing 😉
@NigelsModellingBench2 жыл бұрын
“blipping the throttle” as you call it is not for attention or showing off.. it’s called “rev matching” and helps with gear engagement going down the box… much like some drivers use heel and toe. 😉
@James-RJM2 жыл бұрын
@@NigelsModellingBench Thanks for the comment!! Watch the video, fully, again! I'm referring to when the car is not moving! I'm totally aware of the rev matching imt, which is actually not as sharp as hyundai's i30N performance pack, and more interestingly, it's different in the various demos I've driven, probably because it learns the algorithm of the drivers, similar to a dsg. Mine is pretty good and totally consistent, unlike the demos. Also trained in double de clutching and understand left foot braking concept 😉😉

Each Country has differently-specified vehicles. Those Enkei cast alloy wheels are shod with Dunlop Tyres. In Australia, the Enkei's and Dunlop's are specified on the standard GR Yaris Cars. The higher-spec GR Yaris Rallye in Australia comes standard with BBS forged alloy wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Tyres, and red stitching on the seats, Torsen Limited Slip Diff (front and rear), heavier duty suspension, and red painted brake calipers.

Thanks for pointing this out! Yes, the model in the video is the standard RZ model. My apologies for not making it clear in the video; this is my first upload so I am trying to figure out the format and contents moving forward. Also in Malaysia, there's only 1 model available, which is the top-spec similar to the Rallye version in Australia and the RZ High-Performance model in Japan.

First time I see these seats! Which edition / vesrion is? I ask for the rims too because I love this rims but the highest edition (circuit pack) don't have this rims
@chesterautotalk2 жыл бұрын
Hi! This is the RZ spec in Japan, with the fabric seats, Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres and ENKEI alloy wheels, which I think corresponds to the base spec in the UK. One interesting fact is the Japan spec GR Yaris has slightly more power and torque - 269bhp and 370Nm compared to the export versions.
