It seems simple but it is something I needed to be reminded of. I tend to leave myself too open, which doesn’t mean I need to reveal everything. I can be genuine without oversharing. Something to work on. Thanks.

That's it. It'll help you to ease your intimidation and understanding where the grandiose/covert narcissist comes from. As far as allowing them in your life is concerned, never. I personally cannot trust them any longer as they have been ceasing each opportunity to dominate and intimidate, why wouldn't they do it again when they come closer?

I have never fully understood what it means to integrate-accept the shadow side. Does it mean accepting our nasty behaviour without guilt or shame?
@BlueTrek23
@BlueTrek23 3 ай бұрын
It means looking into our nasty behavior/ shadow, try to understand it source and accept it. By accepting and understanding it source it loses it power to control us. We can now integrate it into our character and decide when to let it out and when not to let it out. Initially we were under it's control, but now we have a significant degree of control over it. I hope I tried to answer your question?

The art of narcissism
@BlueTrek23
@BlueTrek23 3 ай бұрын
There is a little misunderstanding here. There is a limit to how far deep narcissist can go in their empathy since their aim is use people for their purpose. They do not really care about your feelings. They are masters at enmeshing people into toxic relationships. This video is about making the other person feel genuine pleasure that evenen if they end up seeing into your games they would not mind because the pleasurable feeling you give them is rare.

This is highly misunderstood. There is no free will, nothing about integrating your shadow will or even can change this. The prefrontal cortex makes you do the right thing when the right thing is hard to do and if elements within the shadow are brought to the attention of the PFC then this will give more information for the PFC to use in its attempts at self regulation. Our experience of this is as exertions of self control. None of this helps to answer the only question that matters, how did person X become the sort of person that does Y.
@BlueTrek23
@BlueTrek23 3 ай бұрын
"There is no free will" for humans? Are you saying we do not have conscious control over our lives in anyway?
@christopherchilton-smith6482
@christopherchilton-smith6482 3 ай бұрын
@@BlueTrek23 Yes, the medial prefrontal cortex is a biological machine. It can exert control down the causal chain but not backwards. This just means it has an adaptive feedback loop with subcortical regions, which just means it can learn. This seems to be one of the most misunderstood aspects of conscious experience. Top down control isn't any kind of freedom, it's still just a mechanistic feedback loop. So one can definitely say (to stick with the metaphor) exploring your shadow is healthy and can bring more of your behaviors into the light of the PFC and mPFC and doing so will give these regions more control over those behaviors but do not mistake self control for freedom. That self control is still mechanistic, is still a determined process an irreducibility complex one but still entirely deterministic.

You said it all my friend. " It can learn" . And that's what the video is about. We are all learners in this world, to develop our awareness of who we are, our unconscious motivation, and so on.

@@BlueTrek23 When exploring arguments in favor of the existence of God I discovered the "God of the gaps" fallacy and realized you can abstract this fallacy to any argument for anything that lay outside the purview of science either currently or in principle. While I do not always shy away from arguments in this realm, I at least try to make sure my priors are grounded in science. To each their own.

Not a professional piece, in my opinion. I don't want to question the sincerity of the producers, but.... The video says it concerns Jung's alleged manipulation practices, but it does not deliver on this promise. It covers several other points that have nothing to do with the title. In addition, the narrator reveals a certain lack of expertise among the producers when she mispronounces key words (such as "anima" and "lives") that are basic to an understanding of Jung. The narrator also reads her script with inadequate attention to clear pronunciation, making the narration hard to understand.

WTF people? No wonder there’s a mental health crisis, this should be titled “How To Become A Sociopath”. It is nice to have such an in depth look into how the mind of a narcissist really thinks though, they don’t usually admit to anything and never in this great of detail 😂 Thanks for the info.
