Coming here 17 years late lol Thanks for the tips ! I'm 29, have a good job, gladly single and playing the DMC series for the first time ever. Just finished 1 a week ago and started 3 during my summer holidays and damn, this game feels right! It's hard, I'm shit at this game. Boy am I bad at it. But I can also see myself improving and this feeling is pretty rewarding. I'm currently doing the Normal playthrough on the original edition and maybe that's all I'll be able to do. I guess I'll have to start over soon because items now are too expensive and I've only reached mission 8 lol. But it's been long since I've stumbled upon a game where I don't mind restarting over and over and every little success feels like an accomplishment and every retry feels like both a punishment and an amazing adventure. Plus, I could eat Cerberus every morning for breakfast if I could. The music, the vibe around this boss is so 'cool' (pun intended) and a good introduction to the game's awesomeness. I'd repeat myself but I must say even while restarting and getting beaten by bosses, even if some part of me loses patience, you never really lose your 'motivation' (pun as well, but it's true!). And it's so inspiring. This game is like drum'n'bass for me, the personification of how I think it feels like sometimes to be a 15yo boy who likes to ride fast on his skateboard and is confident in every situation (the exact opposite of me at that age). Dante is an inspiring character, the determination needed in this game is inspiring. I read that DMC is less popular now because people would rather play easier games or 'git gud' at multiplayer games. It's true that having to try hard a solo game seems like a waste of time but to me, it's not. First, it's still a nice experience, second, it helps building a better mindset against adversity (in real life as well). Maybe I'm going too fast and I could say the opposite in a few weeks, but right now it's like every thought I have about DMC makes me feel stronger IRL. And that's what we're looking for, right? Power (lol). Gameplay wise, this game feels as deep as Melee, which I suck at as well but will forever hold a special place in my heart for it. I've been admiring the potential of Melee since I was 4 and it feels so good to know that there are actually other games like that out there and with such a cool vibe in it. Damn, the 2000's era for video games was godlike. I mean, a shirtless bishonen hero who doesn't look like a steroids SF character? Seems like they were also thinking about us ladies back then, more than nowadays. On the one hand, I fell in love with DMC's lore (and Dante hehe) and can't wait to play 4 & 5 for the story and characters but on the other hand, 3 feels so deep and good and demanding but satisfying at the same time, I don't want to rush the experience. As for the very content right there, I'm not sure I'll be able to implement such techniques as JC but I'll give it a try. And just knowing it exists warms my heart like a mother's kiss. And finally, I'd say the DMC community feels pretty awesome as well: no shaming when someone is telling they're playing on Easy mode, funny memes with the dysfunctional family and all (as also a Tekken fan I adore those), nice and efficient content like this one. It's nice to be niche but it's also a shame there's no other DMC fan around me. I guess I'll do with it for now.

Yeah I just do not think there are enough buttons on the controller to really support the complexity of DMC's gameplay. Like, having additional programmable buttons on the back of controllers needs to become standard. Or like DMC6 needs to sell its own custom controller with said buttons.

Honestly, the weird controller, grip, and button requirements to play DMC at a high level are the reasons I don't. I own an Elite 2 and I tried to use it to optimize my gameplay, but the Elite 2 controller is a complete PoS and I had to send it in for repairs like 6 times. IDK if I kept getting the same controller back with fixes or new controllers each time, but either way the controller kept developing new issues. Stick drift, sticky face buttons, sticky shoulder buttons, unresponsive back buttons. It literally never ends.

So sad you can't do this in switch

4:20 If you don't have SDT as Dante, then there are quite a few things you can do: Equip Coyote-A and King Cerberus Avoid using Cavalier at all costs, it's an awful weapon against the furies When the stage begins, quickly go up to the furies and stand in the middle, use neutral gunslinger attack of coyote A to knock all of them down and then go up to one of them (using trickster) to start attacking(use Balrog blow mode and attack till ignition) You may use revolver or ice age to parry Focus on one enemy at a time using lock on(you may still get hit with 3 enemies at once, so make sure to not be too negligent) The basic way to avoid damage is to understand that if there are enemies on the screen and they are just standing, then chances are that they will gear up for an attack. So as much as possible, position the camera such that there is only one or two of them on screen at a time Make sure to pop in an ice age attack with directional inputs with respect to the final position of the enemy you locked on to Once you have parried, you can use coyote A or a charged neutral direction Attack for Cerberus for a knockdown(note: coyote A might not be in close enough range to actually knockdown, so you can trickster dodge to the parried enemy, use coyote A and then dodge again to the knocked down Fury) Then go up to the knocked down enemy and use Balrog blow mode or if ignition is active, use the swordmaster Real Impact(need to be quick with the weapon switching) Another tip is that Furies are actually light enemies, so they can be interrupted while they are attacking(especially the case if you are airborne, a well timed attack can knockdown a Fury trying to attack in the air) or right after they have finished attacking(or right before they start teleporting again) using any well hitting weapon, I recommend using Coyote A at close range for this General tips: Avoid going airborne Stick to trickster dodging, especially if many of em start attacking at once(don't just spam, make sure you actually spot the enemies that are going to attack you. I call it spamming with intent) Use DT, especially if there are multiple enemies attacking at once, to avoid stagger and rail on them I actually no damaged this stage once, was so satisfying

I want it to succeed, too, but I don't want this game getting false praise like so many other games. Action games should be more popular but that pure design is mostly lost in modern trends. We can't forget that Bayonetta came out in 2009 and does almost everything better. Where DMC was niche, Bayonetta was super-niche. I hope that people will revisit those games as well and one day we'll see more successors to DMC/Bayo. And I'm with you. Almost 4 years and hardly any true PS5 games, lol.

This game seems to be following in the steps of NieR: Automata and Hope Stellar Blade has almost infinite re-playability loops. Could also hope for an expansion and more DLC zones.

Are there save points through the wall? Can you still fight the boss?
