Dear Bill Maher, if “scientists” (read - VIRAL WEAPONS CREATORS) weren’t messing with biology and creating SUPER VIRUSES 🦠 to use as weapons of war, we don’t need to worry about “the permafrost melting.” The fact that Bill Meyer thinks that humans are powerful enough to change the climate and melt the permafrost is a joke and shows how naïve he is.

I tried to reach out to Mr. Befus via email, even though it was a “long shot.” As it happened, I got a response virtually immediately, on a SUNDAY! The DVD I was after is OOP, but Mr. Befus sent me a link to a slew of (free!) relevant KZbin videos, which contain most of the patterns that I am interested in. Think about that… the President of Scientific Anglers reaching out, answering my clumsy inquiry. THAT is outstanding customer service, folks! Mr. Befus, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! 👍

Great fly. Do you ever tie it with the turkey feather underneath the deer hair? that's how I would do it, but yours still looks tasty!

This fly looks GOOD! I mostly catch panfish and tiny bass on dry flies and foam terrestrials. (No trout streams in my area...🙁) I'm trying this pattern in different colors and sizes, and see how it goes!

Great pattern for the Hydropsychoidea larva! But sorry, a complete live cycle or complete metamorphic life cycle (four stages) of caddisflies are: Egg, Larva, Pupa and Adult. The adult stage of the caddisfly is the imango. The adult (imago) can mate as soon as it imerge into a adult. Mayflies has a incomplete metamorphic life cycle: Egg, Pupa and Adult. The adult stage of mayflies are split up into to two parts, the subimango (dun) and imango (spinner). The adult subimango can not mate and must molt into the imango adult so it can mate.

Many years ago I was fishing the South Platt ( dream stream section) during a Trico hatch and was watching this guy crawling along the bank on his knees with construction type knee pads over his waders wondering WTF ? As I watched he was castings dries and picking off trout as they were feeding on the tricos . When he was done with that section I went over and talked to him and we discussed what patterns he was using and just general BS . As it turns out it was Shane and he was testing out his CDC Trico pattern and gave me a couple to try . Over the years I ran into Shane on the Platt and we would talk about fishing and fly patterns, I always thought he was an odd fellow with a great mind for fly fishing and tying . If you are a tier and you don’t have any of his books get them , he has some great patterns that are very effective. RIP

These yarns don't seem to exist any more. You can find old stuff on Etsy, or Ebay. Maccaron, Wizzard yarn, orther names. I used to read these John Betts articles and they were always saying you could get whatever synthetic in any store. So far zerro results.
