And I thank you for your appreciation of my work, that means a lot. Sounds like you had an interesting learning experience there in the mine shafts, I truly hope today's miners & their families will never know toil this hard in their jobs, though it is still very rigorous & dangerous. Thank you again!

Wonderful work! This song always makes me get tears in my eyes, because one of the members of the Dead said, many years after the composition of the song, that the song was "an Affirmation of the Concept of Grace." As in, the Christian Theological Concept of Grace. And, if you look carefully, the following lyrics (IMHO) riff off a Shakespeare play (A Midsummer Night's Dream) where the character "Bottom" scumbles a verse from 1 Corinthians of the New Testament. Really! The Dead Lyrics: Full of tastes no tongue can know, and lights no eyes can see. When there was no ear to hear, you sang to me. Shakespeare MSND (the irrational verbal screw-ups are intentional; they are part of the comedy): The eye of man hath not heard, the ear of man hath not seen, man’s hand is not able to taste, his tongue to conceive, nor his heart to report what my dream was. 1 Corinthians: "the eye hath not seen, and the ear hath not heard, neither have entered into the heart of man” (1 Corinthians 2:9) Assuming that the claim that the song was an affirmation of the concept of Grace was not an after-the-fact fib, I think what is going on in the song is that Grace has been Personified, and that Grace is the "You" being sung to. A remarkably deep and well-crafted song, sung beautifully. And thanks for all the inspirational art. john PS: The Dead named their band after an English Medieval Christian Miracle Fable. "The Fable of the Grateful Dead Man." Truth!
