I was hoping you were going to say they gave better stopping power!! Maybe I'm remembering my old bikes through rose tinted glasses, but it seems to me they stopped on a dime when you grabbed a handful, whereas my Scout seems to think about it a little... Still seems like a mistake not having dual disks, but that's me. Which model bags do you have on there, they look a good size with looking like refrigerators strapped on!

And I agree with you that this bike would have been far better served with dual disc brakes. I can’t say for sure one way or another if the brakes are any better now. The difference would be so small. They are supposed to stay cooler and offer more contact area, but I don’t tend to buy into the marketing. I do believe that changing the springs provides a very noticeable difference when trying to brake as well as overall ride.

Glad that worked for you! Any other videos I'd seen folks called out how the cap screws lost the cap. And when sizing the bags priir to installing I found the cap screws would have busted the caps for me, also. Hard to imagine what would be different, being the mount should be the same, unless they've already made a revision or two since the release. Anything is possible!

Thanks for sharing! Currently found an awesome deal on Viking bags so trying to configure taillights and license plate relocating. What mount did you use for your license plate ? And new rage for the taillight strip? Thanks again!
@scoutane
@scoutane Ай бұрын
The tail light strip is custom dynamics, mostly because they offer free support and I knew I was likely going to need help at some point, and I did. The plate is Combustion Industries. Last I checked he didn't have any Scout mounts listed, but it could simply be in between production runs. Check out my video on that mount. I had problems that I was able to overcome, but I could have lost half the mount had I not checked it after a short ride.

The New Rage tail lights are cool because they are plug and play, and fill the gap left behind by stock lamps. But I seem to recall there is another brand now making gap fillers. But I've not been able to find them and did not want to keep delaying my response. But I will keep looking.

Another idea. Not as tidy but at one point I was going to put small holes and rubber gaskets in the rear facing panel of one side of bags. Then bolt plate to bag with a frame, etc. It was going to let me keep fender clear for a larger 2Up seat. But once I found the quick release Hemisphere passenger seat, I switched to the X-WING mount by Combustion Industries instead.

@@scoutane thanks for the replies!! I did some research too for options after I commented.. I came across hemispheres option which is a fender taillight strip and license plate tuck in one. It was a little pricey at $300 but with the money i saved getting the big Viking bags i wanted on clearance (only 150 for the set) I figure it’s still about the same if not cheaper than some of the other big bag options available for rogues. And still a little bit bigger of a bag. Thanks again for your video and replies!

Can you please show the step by step process of how you mount and connect the wiring of the running lights? I want to add running lights as well, but I'm uncertain how to do the wiring. Also, do you have any recommendations on what brand/model of lights would work best? Thank you, I appreciate your time.
@scoutane
@scoutane 3 ай бұрын
Sure thing! I've been piecing together my plan and think I I'm going to start with the Octane. Being the wiring up front is pretty much the same between the two bikes, I'll do more detail!
@scoutane
@scoutane 3 ай бұрын
Forgot to answer the brand question. There are so many lower cost options available, but I still think there is an aspect of support. Examples such as Eagle Lights or Custom Dynamics. Past projects where I was stuck, I was able to call and they got back me. They researched bike wiring diagrams and walked me thru what I needed to do. Headlights, I would absolutely stay away from them both, it's a simple upgrade and they are far too expensive. These little running lights in going to install on both bikes, one came from Eagle (4th of July sale) and the other are $22 off Amazon. I want to compare. But now that I've done from signals a few times, I am less concerned with running into issues. Which I'll be sure to walk thru when I sit down to do the install. Which will probably be a few weeks before I get the chance.

So true, if performance is the end goal. And also true how some pipes bring out the higher pitch. While I like the look of straight pipes I had recently cut very short, the tone was off and the decrease in bikes responsiveness was clear. At lower RPM these pipes sound awesome, and the bike response is far better in the power band.

The plate mount is Combustion Industries X-Wing but last I checked he wasn't selling it. I don't know it that's a long term or short term status as I only checked this past week. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpbMhapuYttmhJosi=YRTaoQO8iOYubETJ Loved the idea of the mount but it's being held together with steel zip ties because the bolts holding it's two pieces both fell out, at different times. Making it worse, the bolt holding it to the frame stripped due to poor quality, so I cannot get base off. My plan now is to mount plate on back of a saddlebag because the X-Wing is flopping around and taken some paint off the fender. Ugh.

Hey. Sorry I missed the tail light question. First, I was able to find the X-WING on Etsy: www.etsy.com/listing/1567720992/ ID suggest making sure it's tight and buttoned up to avoid the problems I've had. The tail lights are New Rage and come with OEM connection to make them plug and play. a.co/d/6TzwchU The lights are bright enough at night but daylight performance is poor, leading me to adding the light strip to ensure better visibility.
