There is no balk here. I doubt most of the umpires even know what a balk is & call it based on "vibes" or whatever.

Thanks for reminding us of this pure insanity. This is so bizarre it just needs preservation. I am betting this insanity will never happen again. It won't be allowed to. Thank you for preserving History. Poor Rick Camp is dead. Should be called "THE Rick Camp Game" or "Lenny Dykstra's call up", but most all this should not be forgotten! Thanks for keeping it alive!

Best Cubs Catcher since Hartnett. Great Power & Great Arm. Clutch in '84 & Has the MLB Record for most Runners attempting to Steal in a Seaso in '86. Those Jo-dee Chants & Harry Caray serenading him make Jody Davis unforgettable & hopefully somedsoon the Cubs will induct h8m into their Hall Of Fame!

It is a bare bones numbers cruncher but it’s the most realistic of the ones I’ve played. But….yeah….except for a numbers nerd like me.

I had never considered this as a possibility for adding to Diamond Mind. DMB is my favorite stats simulator and offers so much depth and (to me) very realistic stats and outcomes….EXCEPT for bullpen usage and some lineup usage. The only way to avoid this seems to be manually handling lineups and bullpens on a game by game basis. Which is tedious to say the least. Great video though. Thoughtful input! Thank you for posting this!

Sun was in Lou’s eyes when he made that play. After the game when a reporter asked him how was he able to catch that ball, he famously said; “ we ain’t world champs for nothing!”

I remember watching his live. I was 12 years old now I’m 58. I remember that in Luella said he didn’t even see the ball. He just stuck his glove out.

I’m just seeing this. God bless the company that can even do simple PlayStation type graphics. The one thing sims do well is rebuilds and dynasties. The KZbin content that could get created by better graphics would drive sales up

In the AL Ted Williams huge BB totals during those years actually “moved the needle” for the whole league average. Also it seemed Connie Mack (or whom ever really in charge) in his last few years was really emphasizing BBs and that changed after his retirement in 1950. Fain, Valo and Joost are all examples of peaking in 1947-50.

Burleson was my all time favorite SS. Petrocelli was a close second. Rico had his 40+ homer season and was a solid glove.

Let me tell you guys anyone reading this I was at this game. I was just a kid I remember like yesterday I believe I was around 12 years old and this rivalry will never be matched North Carolina Duke, Michigan Ohio State. Nothing will match Yankees Red Sox back in the day.

Daniel, Have you done any analysis if no hitters are rarer in simulations / tabletop games than in real life? I did a quick analysis of the 1950's and 1960's and the predicted number was 21.1 vs 33 in real life. I have been told there is nothing to the "pitcher has it that day" theory.

Tiant (RIP) did TAKE over the World series. The Red Sox lost, Cincinnati got crowned champions, although - It's been said that baseball won,but the real winners were the fans who Love baseball-even to this day. After this series the game was dramatically altered due to free agency. The series is a documentation of the last days of real baseball. I agree with the host here- this strip down telecast from NBC is better than anything Fox will ever put out due to the genius of Harry Coyle.
