No the glowing butterflies _are_ butterflies. _You_ are the moth! New players are called moths by the more veteran players, at least in the US. Japanese players (if I'm not mistaken) tend to call newbies sparrows. That's what inspired the two cape+mask/accessory sets that are in the shop!

Welcome to the world of Sky! There's a lot of great tips from the other players in the comment section, but here's some more from me: 1. If you ever get lost or confused about finding spirits, there's a guide option where other players can help you find spirits. You can find it in the expressions tab; it's the emote with the question mark at the top. 2. You can click on the chat bubbles to translate them! It will open a bigger chat box, and if you hover over each message, there's an option to translate them. 3. With the map: the little blue guys mean you've still got spirits to free, and the little stars mean you've still got winged lights to get. 4. With the locked gates, if you look closely, you can see different realm constellations on it. It means you need to free however many spirits from that realm. For example, the pot constellation is the Daylight Prairie realm. The "X" constellation is the Valley of Triumph realm (the realm after the Hidden Forest), and so on. 5. Some gates (that you need to light from the side) in the Hidden Forest are bugged. Try lighting them for a few more seconds. It takes a while sometimes. Some people fly into the holes to get in faster (as you've seen with the first player). I hope you continue playing Sky (and post it! you've just gained a new subscriber :) )! I love seeing new players figure the game out. It takes me back to my first time playing it. Enjoy!

Been playing for four years and have not really seen a lets play yet!! This is so cool :)) i will say that gate and other things like it can be really buggy so sometimes you have to find a way around(or through) it. Right now fly through the hole in the gate you saw that other player fly through. Otherwise most of the time it just takes leaving and coming back a couple times! So glad youre enjoying it!!

It's so many peoples comfort game I've made friends from all around the world. I first joined in 2019 and play on and off every few months such a lovely game.

The game has an autotranslate if you click any message, so you can talk with people no matter where they are from. Usually you just can talk with others if you sit with them, if not, nobody can see what are you saying. The other way is unlocking chat in friendship tree, so you can talk with that person everywhere. Doors in forest are so buggy. If they don't work, you can fly through the central hole of the door (or flying up in other ones).

I love this game so much, i started playing it 2 years ago and i played everyday since then. It really changed my life. I like to see a new player starting, it's so nostalgic. Hope you like it.

It looks like the gates issue has been fixed! TGC made a post about it in Discord this evening, and I just tested several gates and other light up mechanisms that were having trouble, and they all worked just now. Hopefully you’ll be able to progress more easily again.

Hi there, I just found your video (how dare KZbin hide this from me for 8 days) I’m a Season of Assembly moff! I like watching new players because, for real. The first time you enter the game it used to be a frickin cutscene, not flying for a hot minute or two 😅 Sky is a very social game, it makes you help others a lot so if you’re a solo player, you’re mostly doomed (unless you straight up glitch the game) I really want to friend you and bring you to random places haha (likes playing with friends)

At the moment most doors are not working as intended. The only way past is to jump through one of the holes in the grate, or to fly over them. If you hit C (for chat) you should get a translation button next to each sentence.

Unfortunately there is a bug going around that makes it so none of the doors in forest open! It should ge fixed next week with the arrival of the new season. There is a workaround however... just open a shared space near the door, if the shared space has little chairs that clip into the door just sit on them and then get up, you should then be on the other side of the door. EDIT: Door bug has been fixed!! You should now be able to make progress normally ^^

If another player flies through the door, the door can become glitch and not open. You did right by going back to home, then try the gate again. They stick constantly. You are heading in the right direction 😊

you are such a curious moth! so cute. when i just started playing (about 2 months ago) i missed so many things because i always wanted to get to the temples asap lmaoo. also, getting that winged light up on that tree with just 3 flaps is amazing!! and the gates do glitch a lot. you can restart the game and try again. flying over some other gates work too

By the way, just so you know for the future, there’s a translate feature on the chat and on message boats, so you won’t have to be sad about not knowing a language. There’s lots of players in Sky from all over the world. I LOVE hearing people play music in random locations in Sky. Sometimes it’ll be in a shared memory, and sometimes you’ll just stumble across someone playing live. It’s heartwarming and enchanting. Keep saving those hearts! You’ll totally have an opportunity to get that butterfly spirit’s cape. I think it’s such a cute one. You can “chat” at any time, but only friended players you’ve unlocked chat with can see it, so you do need the chat benches or tables to chat with most players. We all speak in “honk” and emotes too. 😂👍 I’m bummed for new players that so many gates are soooo glitchy right now. Usually, I just joke about it being “world building” if these old gates take a try or two to get open, but this is way more locked up than I’ve encountered before. I’m hoping TGC gets a patch out for that soon. You did the right thing lighting the entrance. That gate is just having an attitude and is not responding to lighting it up. It’s been doing it to me too. You might be able to fly through the middle open diamond shape in the gate for now to get through, but that can be a difficult maneuver for a player who’s still getting used to flying, so don’t feel bad if you aren’t getting it. In case the problem persists, I’ll mention as well that the next two gates after this one are shorter and can be flown over (carefully).

Revive them by using your flame. Each spirit has different clothings for you. Just like you interact the hair salon. Maybe talk to people who aren't newcomers like you. Yes sky is overwhelming at the beginning. Wait till you meet the krills and go to eden 😂 But it is also repetitive, so after a while you will know all the places. For the beginning I suggest you to focus on: 1. find most if not all the spirits where you can gain emotes and some accessories such as outfits, capes etc with which you can personalize your sky kid; 2. Candle run is very important because you can get accessories only by exchanging them with candles. If you go to each realm every day you can get 15/20 candles everyday; 3. Get all the wing lights to improve your ability to fly longer; 4. You will need to do eden once in a while because you will need ascended candles to unlock accessories from spirits. It will be difficult, especially at the beginning, but by playing the game constantly you will improve; 5. There are 4 task to do each day where you can earn 4 extra candles. There are videos on youtube from noob mode where he/she uploads videos every day and shows how to do the tasks. This is very helpful for new players. There will be seasons and events once in a while, so there will be new activities and stories. The main story of sky is that it’s that each realm is ruled by elders with peace and prosperity. But the elder of eden got greedy and corrupted which ended ruining and freeze all the realm members. Us sky kids have the power to wake them up and bring back hope for them.

It's a cool game if you just want to relax that's for sure. Met a lot of new people here. Most of the players are civil, It's cool :D [Grinding, on the other hand...👀]
