I can well understand and agree with your decision. I own a GR2 and it's probably my favourite camera. It's small, light and discreet. It has many limitations but in some ways these are also its strengths and are actually liberating. In decent light the IQ is really good. The lens is superb. Snap focus is genius. I own an X-T30 and an A7s and an assortment of lenses - but the GR2 is my go to.

I think you should have the music running in the background at a lower volume and raise the volume of your voice that way you don't have to keep replaying it yk just my thoughts no hate.

I stumbled on this video just a few hours ago, and so glad I did. What a fantastic place and what great shots you got!...I've been watching tons of YT photography videos lately, I'm a Fujifilm shooter (X-T30ii) and seriously, this has been my favourite batch of images that I've looked at in quite a while. Great compositions, clean/pro looking, great exposures, with a consistent look throughout the entire set. I think they're really fantastic and they just resonate with me. Are they SOOC?, or did you do a bit in post, perhaps tweaking contrast, etc?...and what metering mode did you use, the exposures look really consistent throughout...and I love that B&W profile, is it just the camera's standard B&W setting?...Do you use a GR III? I thought the video flowed really well and the photos, interspersed with the video clips worked great and I think you got the balance of photos to video, spot-on = very pleasing to watch. Anyway, you should be proud of those shots, they're excellent!.....Liked and subscribed.

Wow thank you so much for the comment. I really appreciate it. Yeah so all images are straight out of camera no post production at all as I want to see over time my photography improving. The simulation is the standard black and white on built in the ricoh GR . Thank you I agree the video clips help the video flow and will be using that approach moving forward. Thanks for following the journey.

Being an LA native, I've always loved London and always have a great time when I'm there. Last time I was there I think I went to a theater in Southbank.. I wanna say it was called Southbank Centre ? Don't remember the name, I just remember I took a photo of this YELLOW spiral staircase that was kind of gritty but cool lol. Anyway, nice video man.. Nice photos. That guy at 5:15 was a little sus ?! What was he up to lol. Have a good one man !

Just found this in my feed. Love the photos. I've always wanted to go to Rome but was put off by the crowds. January could be the optimal month. Subbed.
@THE_GRAIN_EFFECT4 ай бұрын
Appreciate it. January is brilliant for Rome, not too busy, still warm enough to explore, cheaper flights and hotels. Most importantly you get to experience local culture which gets lost in the tourism in the summer. Thanks for the support

No viewfinder, no swiveling screen, no ibis, no weather sealing. No way I would change to Ricoh!
@THE_GRAIN_EFFECT4 ай бұрын
All true mate, it all comes down to what you want out of a camera personally. All the things you mention make the camera expensive and led me to be afraid of taking it out and using it, which isn't exactly ideal. Hence the swap.

You lost at saying you didn’t want the X100V because the fixed focal length followed by you saying you only used one lens on the XE4 and wanted to shoot at one focal length
@THE_GRAIN_EFFECT5 ай бұрын
apologies mate, meant to say fixed 35mm.
@kevinjorgensen10465 ай бұрын
Just don't drop the Ricoh. Dropped mine from about 2 feet with the barrel extended. Parts went flying everywhere. Can't get it fixed locally. They say it'll have to go to Japan and the cost is probably not worth it. Takes great photos but not while its in pieces.

Beautiful pictures! You did a fantastic job capturing the architecture and people of Rome. However, what I found most captivating were the small videos. The compositions were stunning, even more so than the photos. I think you're an incredible videographer, even more than a photographer.

Honestly, i've had this exact thought process. I bought the X100V, sold it, bought the XE4 with the 35 f2, sold it and bought a Ricoh GRIIIX. It's been over a year now and I haven't looked back. The form factor is absolutely insane, while still delivering a 26MP APS-C sensor quality. Great video!
@THE_GRAIN_EFFECT5 ай бұрын
Couldn't agree more mate, form factor is massively overlooked when people buy cameras. No point in having a camera if it sits on your shelf. Thanks for the support. Whats your insta will follow to check out your images.

@THE_GRAIN_EFFECT5 ай бұрын
its just down road from the main car park, you can pay to park on the side of the road there, take cash as the machines aren't card payment. The walk back to the main car park is about 15mins.

Is it me or do Canon cameras make sombre photos? I've owned two and i don't dare buy another one cause the shots might have that depressive look on them again. But i really would like this one for its size and quality. Any thoughts?

Just don't let the camera dictate your exposure. Simple as that.

@@Adrian-wd4rn lol I'm comparing to my iphone 15 pro, full frame or crop cameras. If you think the g9x is better, get your blind ass eyes checked
@Adrian-wd4rn5 ай бұрын
@@GT-hk8dy Talk about being an absolute mor0n. Yes, a 20 megapixel digital camera with a far larger sensor will be better than your iphone 15 with an (actual) 12 MP with a smaller sensor. I think YOU should get your eyes checked. Go ahead and make an 11 x 14 print of that iphone image, it'll look like dog water in comparison. But you'll lie and say "I did" when we both know you never did. Then go ahead and crop the iphone image a bit and make that same print, and watch the image quality degrade even further. Go back to arguing on Reddit where people chat out their rear ends all day.

X100(whatever the letter) is a different animal. Good camera but not a pocketable one and you stick on 35mm with no zoom. Personally for day to day photography I prefer something that fits in my jeans pocket. I've tried 2 times the x100 series and sold both of them because I found myself admiring it at home without taking it out for shooting on a daily base.... I preferred my GR or my rx100... Now I've sold my GR too and bought a g9x because I love the tiny size, the reach, the price, and the quality of the pictures is good enough.
