DO NOT OVER OIL-SPRAY YOUR AIR FILTER. I had a lot of oil sitting in the throttle body. I cleaned it out. And check engine light disappeared.

I don't claim to be an expert on this but from what I've heard, a lean condition has to do with air not being picked up by the mass air flow sensor. In other words, it's either because the MAF sensor is damaged or you have a loose clamp somewhere that's causing air to leak out. Supposedly, because of this, the computer thinks it's getting enough air and is not telling the fuel injectors to inject more fuel to compensate for the increased amount of air going into the engine. A well designed air intake system that is installed correctly and is compatible with the vehicle it's being installed on should not cause any issues whatsoever. I would like to think that K&N and other major brands like them are very reputable and that I think we can trust them when they design and engineer these intakes and install and test them on different vehicles. Sure their performance advertisements are not realistic whatsoever but their ability to bolt on and not cause any issues with how the vehicle runs are.

09 is250 with HKS cold intake. Same CEL but my car is actually more alive and i can hear my engine more. Changing MAF 1st

Yeah same here with the k&n air filter. I get weird idles and check engine lights with my 2.5 turbo sedan. Fuel consumption a mf.
