Spot on. Fear? Yes - it's really quite prevalent. It even infects how architects speak much of the time (fear of offense, unprofessionalism, or litigation).

Thank you for sharing your story here Richard. I am thinking I don't have fear, and perhaps I don't have common sense. I do follow my heart. We all learn from mistakes and errors in judgement. I know I trust more than I should. I would have trusted the advice of your friend who you called. Cause automobile mechanics I know nothing, nothing about - zero interest, zero understanding except perhaps to change the oil or a tire or windshield wipers.

Hi, thanks for your content, I find it very useful. I just cant get my head around a point you made regarding the LCC referrals (15:35). That's the stage where the client is interested in working with you/us but hasnt yet seen any design work. I am not too sure he/she would be in a position to refer you to anyone, as they would be immediately asked the question "Oh, that's great! Are they(the architects) doing a good job, have you been working with them?" - Not yet. You see where Im coming from?...or I am missing something here. Thanks
@ArchitectMarketingInstitute Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your thoughtful comment. Regarding the question about how a client who purchases an LCC can refer you as an architect to others, when they haven't yet completed a project with your firm, there are multiple layers to unpack here. First off, they are welcome to wait to refer you until later in the process, the agreement would not specify that they have to refer others right away. It is also conditional on them having a good experience - "you're agreeing to refer us, but of course only if you are happy with our work". Second, the LCC does provide a lot of value, when done correctly. It gives clarity and direction, and clients are often very excited after they've gotten an LCC report and analysis. So even though they haven't yet gone through the design process, they often report that they feel "heard and understood" in a way they haven't with other architects. Anyway, I hope this clarifies how the referral discount CAN work. We don't insist that our members use this approach, however many of them have tried it and found that it is useful.

Does a zoning analysis qualify as an "LCC"?
@ArchitectMarketingInstitute Жыл бұрын
Hi Rahul - Yes, that fits into the general framework, as long as you're paid to do this analysis. An LCC (Low Commitment Consultation) is usually a first step towards defining the project based on "needs" (program or brief) and options (based on zoning, budget, site considerations etc.). It is done as a separate step, before getting into the actual design.
