i just had one done and they didnt offer me the vest protection, they also didnt check to see if it would clear my shoulders...it rubbed on my shoulders when it passed by and i didnt even think abt the lead protection till on the trip home..it wasnt offered, and im concerned abt the radition.creeping me out,why wasnt the protection offered...it was new to me, never done one b4 and i trusted the dental assistant to know what she was doing..any help appreciated..should i sue these people? What the dentists will Not tell you: This machine delivers Alot of radiation, im sensitive to such things and i can tell you this is a hugely bigger dose from that beam which is continously ON as it circles around, Way more than bitewings xrays..This contraption left my head burning from the inside for 2 days after the scan! it finally has toned down on day 3..Dont let Anyone give you that spheal that its no more than an afternoon in the sun crap! Its completely different, its a concentrated dose delivered in brief time and That affects the body very differently than the suns radiation delivered slowly in a diffussed manor over an afternoon... Does anyone feel bad like im describing after a nice day in the sun? No.... this is different and dangerous..The irony is that the panoramic wasnt even really used to check for cavities per se..they relied on bitewings for that... what a waste of time and i was put at risk with no protection to boot...i feel like never going back to that dentist again, but i prpaid for a dental plan with them and i need dental work but im so very dissapointed in their protection of their patients... they told me they Dont use the apron for panoramics, only for bitewings...when i aked why, becuz the panoramic is way more radiation than a bitewing, so it make no sense not to use protection there, They had no answer. as far as the check areas that the careful assistant in the vid went thru, the one who did me did Not do these... sent me thru with no apron, did Not line my feet up , did not get the head height adjustment right...my shoulders were rubbed hard by the passage of the machine thru its arc.. i just held myself dead still cuz i didnt want to have it done twice..but That should not have happened ...putting tongue on roof of mouth and or closing eyes never mentioned....there is So much about a panoramic xray, the true dosage ,the proper procedure and the saftey precautions that i DidNot research,i just trusted the assistant to know and keep me safe...never again...i recommend that Anyone undergoing this Educate Urself fully before you step into one of these..
