What happens when you get "bored" of that job too? Regular people work jobs they do not like fire or not, they work SOUL CRUSHING jobs to make ends meet. Now as a rule I understand there's a mountain of context I'm missing but you're responsible for keeping that fire going. Good luck with the rest, doesn't really seem like you failed- besides the drop shipping thing which I totally understand that's a nightmare of anxiety and razor thin margins sold to you as a dream by the millions of other people doing it not showing their actual results with it. Hope this works out for you.

Being bored of a job is a good indication that it's time to change roles, mix things up, or move on. Obviously that involves taking on risk, which makes people uncomfortable. I lean into the risk. I see it as a good thing. It leads me to get burned on a regular basis, but it's also been the source of every success. I recommend making friends with risk and failure. Risk tolerance is a muscle.

@@ChrisEsplin No one is saying on should not lean into risk, but if you're trying to build something chances are you're going to get bored and along the way something new and attractive will seem more enticing. It's also important to finish things. Sticktoitiveness is also a muscle.

Not sure if I 100% dig the advice. I'm also a software dev, I started my own small business, and kept going on at it for almost 10 years. Before it started going good at about the ~8 year mark, it was pretty bad for several years though. The business got obliterated twice - blown out of the water because of mishaps. 3 years ago, after the second implosion, I was in my living room with my wife, parents and cousin, and they all told me to just drop it and reconsider. We were at the peak of the software bubble, salaries were sky-high, and my wife was pregnant. "You could just quit and go make twice as much with half the headaches. You're gonna be a dad." But I didn't quit. I knew that this new niche I was trying out could be the thing. And then the bubble bursted 1 year later, salaries went down, mass layoffs, etc. It didn't affect me, and the niche _DID_ work out. Like, FINALLY, dude. I'm now making good money (on par with software devs pre-crash), and I only work when I have work. Some weeks there is not much, so I work 25-30 hours and spend the rest with the kid and wife. Sometimes, quitting is not the best idea.

Just to keep things fair 😉: 1. Utah, particularly the Salt Lake City area, often experiences poor air quality due to pollution and seasonal temperature inversions. 2. The arid climate can be challenging for those not accustomed to dry weather and can contribute to issues like drought and wildfires. 3. Utah has some of the strictest alcohol laws in the United States, which can be inconvenient for residents and visitors who enjoy alcoholic beverages. 4. Utah is often noted for its lack of cultural and ethnic diversity, which can make it feel less inclusive to some people. 5. Certain areas, especially around Salt Lake City, have a high cost of living, including expensive housing. 6. Compared to other states, Utah has fewer nightlife options, which can be a drawback for those who enjoy a vibrant nightlife scene. 7. The state has a predominantly conservative political climate, which may not align with the views of more liberal residents or visitors. 8. Due to its desert climate, Utah faces significant challenges with water scarcity, impacting agriculture, industry, and everyday life. 9. Utah, particularly the Wasatch Front, is at risk of significant earthquakes, which poses a potential threat to infrastructure and safety. 10. Public transportation options can be limited, particularly in more rural areas of the state.

Compiling sites before they have to diploy. this stuff is so much harder now. To update my site i upload a simple php file and its uploded from any computer in the world. Developers need to stop saying this stuff is easy. its inter connected and you have to bascially be a programming engineer to understnad half the things you said!

can you elaborate on what you mean regarding Firebase? Do you mean that you can't scale with Firebase, given the limitation of the technology? That no serious large company would accept it into production system?
@ChrisEsplin
@ChrisEsplin Жыл бұрын
Firebase hasn't received Enterprise adoption. Yet. The Firebase services are 100% production-grade, but large companies already have back-end teams that would rather have greater control of their systems. I happen to disagree with that approach. I believe that companies should engineer the bare minimum outside of their core product. There are plenty of large companies that use Firebase, but they're not using it at a scale that would support me as a consultant.
