For those curious, from time to time, if an international flight (say ORD bound) for whatever reason has significant arrival delays, they'll land at CLE to clear passengers through Customs (which burns time and alleviates Customs workload at busier airports) and then continue on when they have a new arrival slot into their original destination. UAL was famous for doing this (pre CO merger). I remember seeing several 763's -772's and once a 744. This was also prior to the ORD redesign. Also was travelling west on I-480 one day and a Saudi 74SP flew right in front of my windshield! (I think the Saudi Prince was visiting Cleveland Clinic)

I drive by CLE twice a day. I've never seen a 787! That would be cool to see in person. My company did some electrical work for a business right next to the airport. I spent all are breaks just watching the planes coming and going. Thanks for showing CLE.

I live 2-3 minutes away from CLE I've seen that UAE 747 flying over my house and on the ground numerous times, I've also seen that Covak AN-12 parked over near where the Cleveland Cavs park their cars when they're boarding their charter flight. Whenever I see a rare airplane at the airport I'm always taking a pic of it. You always have the best airplane videos 👍🏽

I'm a Clevelander myself. I'm completely blind so good describing! I've always wanted to try and follow a plane live or hear a recording of one. You listen to Atis first. Then you go to clerance, ground, tower, departure, center, and eventually arrival tower and ground of the place you're landing. The problem is on LIVE ATC you can only hear the controlers and once you get to Oberlin Center it's hard to follow the plane from there. I can pick up Atis, Ground Tower and departure and arrival on my scanner, but not center.

I would recommend picking up a scanner, like the Uniden BC125AT. Most of the channels are on Radio Reference (there are a few dead ones on there but all of the ones that you would need are on there!) Live ATC also has a delay and you are right about trying to chase the aircraft around. You might need an upgraded antenna depending on how far you are. I got the longer one on Amazon for like $10 and can pick it up from Medina. It is fun to listen in, especially when the aerial refueling track is active!

The tires ALWAYS "smoke" when landing, on all large aircraft. The Captain was not flying. The landing was very safe.

@@roelofvenema6500 When a large aircraft tire touches the pavement, it is going zero mph. The larger planes fly fast, with some landing speeds at close to 200 mph. When the tire touches the runway, it starts skidding, and takes a while to spin up to match the speed of the plane on the ground. When the wheel spins up, some of the tread is burned off, which is the smoke that you see. Every time one of these planes lands, they lose some of the tire on the runway, just like a car that is spinning their tires before they get traction. Sometimes it can be very bad for the tire, with one landing causing a large flat spot on the tire, due to various conditions. If it lands on a snowy runway, the rubber loss is less, due to the runway surface being slippery. I'm sure u can google this, and find out more detailed information, as I am not an aircraft engineer/maintenance person.

Yeah it would be nice! We occasionally get an Omni or Eastern charter, maybe once a year. CMH will have 2 EA 777s again later this week.

There was a period of time around 2021 where it was here a few times but hasn't been back since. I hope it comes back again soon as this was taken with a really cheap camcorder on a lousy weather day and I had to try to upscale it with AI and it came out a little crunchy, but with the Clinic you never know what will come back!

Yeah they did. There is a new Eastern that is flying mostly charter flights now with Boeing 777s and 767s.
