Hello. I am applying to do Psychology. I was thinking that Keith Hunte Hall would be better, but somehow I am now thinking that Frank Worrell may be a better option. Which Residence is closer to the School of Education, where Psychology is taught? Thank you so very much for this video💜

Hi! What year did you do your exchange and do you know if upper year exchange students live on campus?
@beverleyaudet33633 жыл бұрын
Hi Jana. My son from NS is studying at UWI this year. So far not the wonderful experiences you’ve had due to COVID. Even first week of classes online (in room) and nothing opened, not even outdoor track. The smaller buses are off the roads too and costs through roof. He’s down and lonesome. I told him about Doubles. Can you tell me where to find them and maybe other novel ideas? I am a very concerned mom here in Canada.

@justjanathings87423 жыл бұрын
Hey Stef! There is a cafeteria and a convenience store! The convenience store was good for snacks and the cafeteria was decent for meals, but it was cheaper to buy food at the grocery store and make your own food in residence! :)

Lived on Frank Worrell back in 2001. Best experience since classes were just a two minute walk from my room, great flatmates, security, and long lasting friendships. The accommodations were clean, with a cleaner coming in daily. I cleaned my own room though.

When you moved into residence did you have places to store your luggage or what did you do with it while you were there?
@justjanathings87425 жыл бұрын
Hi Faye! I didn't have much luggage, so I kept it under my bed and on top of a shelf in my room. There is quite a bit of storage inside the Frank Worrell rooms! My other housemates from the Caribbean had cylindrical shipping containers which they were able to store in another location, and can even store there during breaks as well :)

@justjanathings87425 жыл бұрын
Hi Danielle! I'm glad the videos have been helpful! I enjoyed my classes a lot! Most were very standard university classes -- lecturer talking and then some class discussions. Most have a heavy weighting on the exam and then 1-2 large assignments (ex. oral presentation and a paper). The professors were all very friendly and amicable! I was working towards a major in environmental studies and minor in international development!

@@justjanathings8742 those are the frogs! Tiny frogs (coqui something, locally called whistling frogs), about half the size of a dime. Technically they sing all year, but they are quiet when it's been dry out for several days or more.

These videos have honestly gave me a better idea about what the school is going to be like! I have a couple questions if you don't mind answering for me: Where did you find the course catalog to pick your courses? What courses are you currently taking and how do you like them? Do international student move in before other students and does the school provide activities or events where all the international students meet? What residence do you live in and does it have air conditioning? Do you find it hard to mesh with the students who go to the school versus international students? Did the school room you with other international students?
@justjanathings87426 жыл бұрын
Hey Faye! I'm glad the videos are helping! The course catalog can be found here: helios1.cavehill.uwi.edu:9011/kronos1_prodch/bwckctlg.p_disp_dyn_ctlg I'm currently taking Development Economics, Social Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development, Sustainable Energy Systems (my favourite!), and Introduction to International Organizations. I really enjoy them all! International students move in at the same time as other students, there are activities for international students to meet, but if you're coming in the fall, you also get to participate in first year orientation! I live in Frank Worrell Hall, there is no air conditioning, but you can rent a fan! There is air conditioning available in Keith Hunte Hall! It is VERY easy to mesh with other international students, definitely harder with other students, but I have a met a few in class and in residence! I live with one other international student on my floor in residence, but the school doesn't intentionally do that, and we're actually quite spread out for the most part! Hope this helps!
