I was there in the mid-1970s when it was active. It was an array of dipole antennae about 3X the size of a football field. Yeah, huge. It was a ‘phase-steerable’ array, ie., the signals from the dipoles were combined electronically to track an object like Jupiter or the Sun across the sky. It was tuned to decamatric wavelenths, at which Jupiter is radio active. This site was used to determine Jupiter’s complex magnetic fields and was the first telescope to detect emissions from Io.

The UF optical observatory, Rosemary Hill Obs, is in Levy County, near Bronson, FL. There are two scopes there, the 30” Newt-Cassegrain and and an 18” Ritchey-Chretien. (Pretty sure it’s an RC design.) I used them both when I was a grad student there in the late 1970s. I think there was just a small radio telescope there, with a simple Yagi antenna. If it was ever used, it wasn’t used much when I was there. There was also an installation at Bivens Arm, on the south side of the Gainesville campus. It had mostly been abandoned when I was there. There were some derelict 20 or 30 foot radio dishes and other conventional antennae, badly overgrown with trees and shrubs back then.

They have a new splash oad at the park where the Ray Charles is which is great for the kids there. If you're ever again at the Florida Panhandle. You might want to check out the town of Wewahitchka, the home of the Dead Lakes,Tupelo Honey and the filming location of the 1997 movie Ulees Gold starring Peter Fonda and Jessica Biel in her first movie. The movie also won a Golden Globe award for that year.

You want to see a real old semitary look out by what was john elexicks chicken farm. I grew up in there in the 1980s it was under trees and you could just barly see the head stones sticking up. Masaryktown Florida was founded buy check in Slavic immigrants the emigrated between about 1930 and 1945 The immigrant started out trying to raise oranges however they were to far north. So they turned to raising chickens and selling eggegs there were several large chicken farms in the area in the area however by the 1980s most of the old people started dieing off. As far as i can remember the electric family had the last chicken farm which closed about 1988 to 1990. The masaryktown hotel used to serve great check and slovock food until the doughter and son inlaw of the orgonal owner retired i belve in the early 1990s. The likes cattel farm was located near by and was still in operation until about 1995 as far as i know. (They may still be in operation i realy dont know) brooks vill fla has some realy interesting history and features i wont boor you with it all however i will tell you that there was brooksvill army airbase there during ww2 there were still carates and munitions in a cupel binkers that were located on the likes catel farm un the 1980s ( i know becaus as kids we used to slip out there on our bicycles in explore the old air base) there was roomerd to be two crashed and buried b17s localy that were left prity much intact becaus of there remotness in the 1940s brooksvill has an enormis cave system that runs from one end to the other. During the 1960s there were drag races on the run ways that are closest to masaryktown. During the 1940s people used to buy model a cars and dear hunt with them when they would get stuck they would just leave them becaus they could go buy another vary cheaply its my understanding that some of them are still in the woods to thos day. The semitary you recorded was mostly from the check and slovock imigrent comunity. There used to be a barber shop that we got our hair cut at during the 1980s it was owend by mr al. There was a civel war cernel that owend a flea market there my the name of lonie colburn. Were the comunity of spring hill is used to be the best bear hunting in the country befor the devilepers bought it up and turned it into a hogh doller retirement comunity during the 1980s. Masaryktown used to have a bluegrass festival in the park by the post once a year. There used to be a little convenience almost acrost from the masaryktown hotel. It was owened by a mr Pennington. There was an auction house on us 41 that was owend by the macky family. There was even a grain elivator and feed store there that had been there since the 1800s it was owend by the blaha family as far as i can remember. The streets of masaryktown were named after check and Slovakian heroes from world war II running one way and American heroes running the other up until the 1980s. ( They may still be) masaryktown was named after Jan masarik I believe the first president of checklist Slovakia just after ww2. If you would like more history on masaryktown just asked if I can remember I'll tell you if I can't I'll ask my older brother.

I'm Paul's great granddaughter. It's Bennet with one t. That was very important to my grandmother (his daughter) that her maiden name was spelled correctly. Bennet (one t). I'm about to do a huge deep dive of this side of my family on my channel. The Bennets were an extremely powerful family in Quitman. Paul's grandfather was one of the town's founders. They also had a senator in the family, mayors, and judges.

The Readout or post looks more like a trap for whoever man's the post. The mote like depression is only good if someone is on the wall, and then they are exposed to the enemy. Once the enemy reaches the grass slope a d wall, the troops inside are like fish in a water barrel and dead ducks.
