How many yards of fabric did you use and what width? Can you please tell how much yardage of horsehair was necessary for hem? Did you stitch the top of the horsehair also to the dress, or just the bottom?? And how was the waistband finished?
@karla_roble2 ай бұрын
@@danetteperez3863 i believe at least 8 with 58” wide.. can’t remember how much horsehair, it really depends on how full you make it. Hehe

So beautiful! Out of interest, how do you undo the skirt enough to get into the dress? If it's just sewn onto the base of the corset it would be so narrow. Is there a hidden zipper or something?
@karla_roble3 ай бұрын
Thank youuu! ☺️ yes there is a 10” opening at the center back of the skirt that you can add a zipper in ☺️

@@karla_roble it did. I studied costume at university. I just didn't understand construction. Having lockdown for majority of my uni years I had to rely on other sources, this video saved me. The dress is SO beautiful and i learnt so much just from this one video, thank you!! Quick question, do you have a particular method to tie the ends and finish off with the invisible thread? I'm always worried my knots will eventually come undone.
@karla_roble5 ай бұрын
Hi Katy! Thank you!!! And i’m glad you learn d something 🥰 that’s the ultimate goal hehe.. As for your question, i personally like to tack it a couple times and then do a couple knots at the end.. ☺️

Also.. initially made this video/short to answer your question except i’ve been so sleep deprived lately and i misread your comment and missed the “clear thread part” lol 🤦🏻♀️🥲😅 anywhooo.. i do the same thing when sewing with a clear thread so yeah.. lol oopsies! Might still be worth a minute of your time hehe 😜 kzbin.infodMWslDRk_Vs?si=MfqHTyS8TaxPo_Nf

@@karla_roble oh thank you so much for making a short to answer my question!! That is a beautifully shot video by the way (and dress!) and so helpful seeing you sew the applique on up close. I've seen other videos but it was difficult to see exactly what they were doing, so this was brilliant! Sewing with invisible thread in the past I made 2 or 3 fisherman's knots (spit and all 🙈😂) since I figured it's basically really tiny fishing line lol! But I guess time will tell whether it holds up or not. Thank you so much Karla!
