The ultimate Olympic experience is to take the next step and spend the night on the summit. City lights from Portland to Vancouver and Victoria are visible and are spectacular. In August-early September crossing the glacier isn't difficult, as the hazards are exposed. Ropes, crampons, ice axes and minimal training are required.

Going this September to backpack to the blue glacier. Any advice? Hope you saw some cool insects and birds along the way. I do macro photography mainly and debating about bringing my dedicated lens for it. Thanks, Miles

would you recommend this hike with a partner or would it be fine to go solo??

This one is definitely on my bucket list. I see you camped at Lewis... Others I've communicated with went to Elk Lake. How was the day hike from there? Great video!
@kyleszegedi

The day hike was definitely long, around a 16 mile day. But the campground at Elk Lake was not very exciting so I would camp at Lewis or Glacier meadows if I was to go again!

I did this in 1970 the first time and have many times. I'm think about this spring for my 70 birthday . I was doing this before Bear Cannisters were required because of the Olympic Racoons figured how to get into Ursacks.

I stayed at Glacier Meadow for 2 nights in the 70s so I could have a day to play on Blue. I have lived here since 58 near Mt Rainier and the Olympics have been my favorite spot since 66 when I spent 7 days 55 miles hiking through from the east side to the West side.
