Nice striper catch my friend. You all got some big ones. Liked and subbed from a fellow angler. Stay safe and connected!

help me understand why you descale if your going to cut skin off anyways ? just seems like a needless step and dulling the knife for no reason ?
@bronzebackbassing18
@bronzebackbassing18 13 күн бұрын
Honestly, I have no clue. Like sometimes I just decide I’m going to keep the skin on, hence why I scale it, sometimes I decide to skin it. It does make it easier for me to make those first cuts and that is about it though.

Great video. I see a lot of people stand on rocks. What is the reason for that?
@bronzebackbassing18
@bronzebackbassing18 Ай бұрын
Cause from the shoreline to the rock is about 1ft of water and any lure you have to retrieve through that gap will get stuck. Plus, the closer I am to the fish, the less hard I have to cast.😊

Great Video!!, I notice that the retrieval speed on the diamond jig, and Manhattan needle was faster than most people say to work them. was that to keep it from going to deep and snagging the bottom??
@bronzebackbassing18
@bronzebackbassing18 Ай бұрын
Yes, both the diamond jig and needlefish were a solid 3oz cause the fish were far out and I had already lost some bucktail jigs earlier in the day. I retrieved them fast to avoid snagging on the bottom. Not to mention, I find when fish are blitzing, fishing a lure slower gets me less bites cause it’s more time the fish can see the lure and realize it’s fake. Whereas if you are fishing the lure very erratic and fast, it might trigger a reaction strike. (Note this is coming from my experience trout fishing).

@@bronzebackbassing18 Last question, you noted that it took you 2 hours to get there at the light house. As someone who grew up in the South Bronx but now currently living in Connecticut, I'm assuming you're from Queens or there abouts. Is parking at the light house restrictive? are you require to have a vehicle pass to fish over night??
@bronzebackbassing18

@@alexdolly6077I live on the Nassau county Queens Border and yes you do need a night fishing permit from NY state parks. I do have the permits but I had been at Montauk since 6:30 in the morning and wanted to get home by sunset.

What setup are you using. Rod n reel?
@bronzebackbassing18
@bronzebackbassing18 2 ай бұрын
the first combo is a ocean master travel spinning rod, 7' medium light and a shimano FX 2500 size, its a combo i usually use for fluke and porgies. the second combo is a daiwa emblem pro surf rod, 10', medium heavy, and a daiwa cross fire spinning reel, 4000 size. i did recently upgraded my spinning reel to a tsunami shield in a 6000 size cause the old reel didn't have the greatest drag and wouldn't lay over the line properly. I need to get back into adding what gear i use. Hope this helps

Yep, though I find the Adirondack lakes more productive then that of the Catskills. Any lake that has round gobies are going to have a great smallmouth fishery.
