Anyone know much about Redwings handboards? I came across two sets of his red colored handboards. Obviously custom/personally made. One set has handwritten in black under the (epoxy) finish: From Redwings, To Puki J. . Each are numbered. One is .043 and other is .044 and named BEATER and BITER on each. All hand written. The other set has the Redwings Cleaver Inc LOGO w/dolphins on it. Numbered .053 and .054 respectively. These are reddish in color and possibly koa wood. If there is information on these and their worth, I'd love to hear story on them. Mahalo

Unfortunately, I haven't seen ONE thing that I don't do on a bad day at State Beach in Santa Monica. At least go to the Wedge in Newport Beach, or Crescent Bay in Laguna Beach. Now, by using hand planes, the contest no longer qualifies for "BODYsurfing"; fins technically qualify, as well, but we'll let that slide for now. Panic Point, here we come!

How I miss body surfing…. I would do anything to return to Hawaii and bodysurf till I my body gave out.

Anybody remember the HandGun bodysurfing board/thing, it was back in the 80’s I think. It was a black plastic board that was about maybe 15-17 inches long had and opening in the middle of it so one of your hands could hang on to it, and use it as a hand plane.

I knew Redwings when I lived on Kauai in the ‘80’s. He was a bright spirit full of energy and fun. Saw him once jump off the bluff at Shipwrecks to help somebody in trouble in big surf, I think it was a kitesurfer. I wouldn’t say it was brave because I think he was happy to have an excuse to jump off the bluff into to big surf just to have some fun! I really loved my old Redwing hand board. Aloha Red
