My ranking of my favourite band's albums 1. Definitely Maybe & (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (5/5) 2. Dig Out Your Soul (5/5) 3. Heathen Chemistry (4/5) 4. The Masterplan (4/5) 5. Don't Believe the Truth (4/5) 6. Be Here Now (3/5) 7. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (3/5) I don't hate any of these albums I love them all but I like some more then others as oasis never made a bad album

Waiting for the rapture is one of if not the best song on DOYS, especially the alternate version (unfortunately didn't make it) but the album version is still great imo
@kolchak357Ай бұрын
I enjoyed your ranking. I’ve never actually listened to an entire Oasis album. I only know them from the singles I’ve heard in the radio. I know the first couple albums were very popular here in America, but they sort of faded away after that. I loved the brother’s two interviews on the Howard Stern show. They both had such entertaining stories. You’ve inspired me to pick up their first couple of albums and give them a listen. 👍

Definitely Maybe / WSMG is a toss up for #1/#2 BHN / The Masterplan is toss up for #3/#4 The other 4 are toss up for #5 #6 #7 #8 Ranking Oasis albums as released isn't interesting. More interesting is to rank the album sessions (including outtakes, b sides and demos) That's not so easy.
@paulanthony5274 Жыл бұрын
I've always just thought 3 of the albums are crap as in dig out your soul, don't believe the truth and standing on the shoulder of giants. The fact heathen chemistry has good singles for me puts imagine them then the top 3 Be here now morning glory and top definitely maybe. Good to have lived it at the time 54 now.
@myenemysenemy1043 Жыл бұрын
No way is Be Here Now better than DOYS, DBTT or even Heathen Chemistry. There isn't one track on the album that can be considered anything better than mediocre, and it includes most of the worse songs they've ever made.

My Favorites: 10. Heathen Chemistry 9. The Masterplan 8. Definitely Maybe 7. Be Here Now 6. Be 5. Different Gear, Still Speeding 4. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants 3. Don’t Believe the Truth 2. Dig Out Your Soul 1. (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?

For me 1 DM 10/10 2 WTSMG 10/10 3 BHN 9/10 4 DBTT8/10 5 DOYS 8/10 6 SOTSOG7/10 7 HT 7/10 But HT is still good. I think you could include the master plan though, I would put it in at 3 instead of BHN Can anyone believe NME gave morning glory 6/10 ha ha
@jacobcullip12342 жыл бұрын
They absolutely got that one wrong the NME lol
@nez97512 жыл бұрын
In 2005 NME gave DBTT 6/10 and wrote long article about oasis slide down the ladder, they re published the previous albums reviews and had morning glory @ 9/10 which was total bollocks, they hated it at the time. In a similair way they gave BHN 9/10 upon release then tried for years to sweep that under the carpet too. Music critics are just frustrated jealous musicians , and music snobs for the most part imo, I remember seeing a Noel interview in 2005 slagging them for that too

Mine would be: 7. SOTSOG 6. Dig out your soul 5. Don't believe the truth 4. Heathen chemistry 3. Be here now 2. Definitely maybe 1. WTS morning glory

The backlash Be Here Now got a few years after it's jubilantly recieved release had more to do with (in my opinion) the events and culture of the time turning sour to the public (britpop/politics/etc) and a rejection of the events and the time that was subseqently projected on the music. Or it feels like an element anyway.

It’s not their best album but the critical reception is blown way out of proportion and in certain channels on KZbin and TikTok

Some of my least favorite album tracks post 2000 are the Gem/Andy songs. I'm not in the minority. Noel's gracious attempt to make it more of a band scenario really hurt the quality.

- definitely maybe (perfect album, perfect definition of oasis= brilliant rock songs, plagiarism and some brilliant and some lame lyrics, yet a 10/10) -wtsmg (i thought hello was a horrible tune but through the listening it was actually a perfect fit, classic album 9.5/10) -the masterplan (noel's tracklist making is awful, someone more inteligent should have helped, this should have been a propper album 9/10) -dbtt (as someone here said 3 o 4 good songs the rest meh, but way better and decent than other albums 7.5/10) -dig out your soul (take off high horses, Ain't Got Nothin and The Nature of Reality and a decent comeback could have been 7/10) -sotsog (2 or 3 good songs, liked the ambition and the experimental approach but half baked tho 6.5/10) -be here now (put on that 5 o 6 tracks froms masterplan and a classic was born 4/10) -heathen chemistry (easily top 10 worst albums i ever heard 3/10)

(Just my opinion, of course). Not a bad song on DBTT? Love Like A Bomb, Part of the Queue, Mucky Fingers - phoning it in mate, in the worst way...and always strikes me as odd when they add filler like that and save some goodies for the b-sides...I got that in the 90s when it was all killer no filler, but post-2000s they really didn't have to include songs like I can See A Liar and Part of the Queue when they had tunes like I can See it Now and Let's All Make Believe, languishing as B-sides. The addition/substitution of those songs could've actually propelled them further, made critics happier (who cares abt critics I know, but their views do echo and can determine if a more casual fan decides to buy the record), and fans less lukewarm. Part of the Queue is just a naked rip off of Golden Brown, Mucky Fingers a bad nod (no pun intended) to Waiting for My Man, Get off Your High Horse Lady doesn't even bother change to the lyrics to Hi-heel seekers. In fact, Andy had the best tunes on DBTT (keep the dream alive and turn up the sun kick arse compared to the aforementioned).Just an opinion, appreciate it's all subjective (I love Born on A different cloud, esp the live version in finsbury park). But IMO they made some questionable choices after the 90s (although saying that the masterplan or acquiesce instead of girl in the dirty shirt or I Hope I think I know would've just crystallised that album and made BHN unanimously popular. And by this point Noel only had to write 4 songs per album - he really could've brought his A game (these days songs like the Right Stuff and the song remains the same and riverman are scorchers - on an Oasis album they would've elevated them to respect-worthy albums even amongst poncey critics. But if my aunty had a tail she'd be a gallagher.

I pretty much agreed with your review word for word. The first half of Heathen Chemistry was brilliant after that if falls away. Back then The Roller, Idlers Dream and Let There Be Love could have been included. It's a reminder Oasis still created great music but Noel's track selection was off. This album could have been within reach of the first two in my opinion. Same goes for the last 3 tracks on Dig Out Your Soul. Although Soldier On is pretty good .
@jacobcullip12343 жыл бұрын
That’s the one thing that annoys me about Noel, his track selection especially Heathen Chemistry and Be Here Now.
@nez97512 жыл бұрын
For me oasis albums started to deteriorate when gem Andy and Liam started contributing tunes. Some of their songs are great but their tunes are the weakest ones on all the albums they appeared on. They impacted the quality especially of DOYS and HC. I always thought , Liam is the best singer and frontman in the band, Noel is the best songwriter and gem and Andy were the best guitarist. Just stick to what you do best.
