The things with MOST Roguelike games, and this includes Balatro, is that the addictive nature and the addictive cycle of the game really comes into play when you play higher difficulties (Stakes in Balatro). When I started I just wanted to complete every deck on White stake, but once I started playing towards gold on some decks, is when I realized how incredible the game is. Considering picking one deck (Blue is a great starting point) and hitting even Black Stake.

i game doesn't have to be a innovative marvel to be game of the year. Look at the hours played this game has and the different skill levels you can have tons of fun at. the indie game of the year is an absolute slaughter

Balatro is onw of those games that takes a bit to get its hooks in you. If it clicks with you, you'll find it near-impossible to put down. I think the basic and unassuming nature of the visuals betray the depth and complexity of this playing card/deck-builder/roguelite... So I can get why some folks might raise their eyebrows at a game that looks like a mobile game getting nominated for GOTY. But I think the first thing to remember is that GOTY means different things to different people... For some, the GOTY is the game that was the most popular and made/had the biggest impact within the gaming industry.that year. For others its the game that displayed the highest level of mastery of all the elements of game design. A game that raises the standard of what was thought possible and who's inclusions, iterations, and innovations push the industry forward. And for some its as simple as the funnest game to play, and the game that managed to take up the most of their time (not wasting it).that year is the GOTY.

why are 2 DLCs on game of the year? shouldn't there be a dlc page or smth?

Obviously you can't appreciate a game fully if you only play it for 10 minutes. The only real contender for game of the year IMO, besides balatro, is black myth, which will probably win. I didn't like black myth though personally, just felt like another shitty dark souls ripoff. Elden Ring DLC isn't even a game, I think it should be in a different category for DLC.

Idk how people got addicted to Balatro and game of the year is a little strong but I guess this year didn't have the most amazing games, I've heard really good things about Astro Bot too. Maybe games don't excite me like they used to. Also it has to win "indie of the year" right? It's the only game on the "indie of the year" to also be on the "game of the year" list.

Hello i have a question,its my first time that i reached to day 7 in pz,before i enter day 7 all of my base(Rosewood fire station)and surroundings where empty of any zombies but right when I entered day 7(my character was asleep)i heard a lot of bangings and windows breaking sounds,i woke up and when i got downstairs i saw some zombies inside(dressed as fire fighters)i killed them and heard more i got out to check it out and saw a million zombies outside of my base mostly fire fighters, I tried luring them away and each step i took i saw more zombies,i moved that massive horde away and when i was crouching towards my base again i saw a hell tone of zombies there again,(not only there but the whole neighborhood was full of zombies)my game was on survival mode and the settings where not changed and also I didn't had any modes,can someone tell me what was going on?that amount of zombies were sooo unnormal for a survival game mode Edit:i entered my base from the escape rooe i had in the back i got to one of the rooms sitted down and lighted up a cigarette and a random zombie spawned right Infront of me wtf?
