Great Job, I have been installing drainage systems for thirty years. I would like to know more about the filtration portion of the system. Are you able to clean it out?

Can those chambers handle weight? For example driving over them or tractor when burried. I assume they can
@CTgutter10 ай бұрын
CULTEC chambers are engineered to be H20 street rated for heavy duty road traffic. They are engineered arches that evenly distribute weight outwardly instead of imploding and falling into themselves.

Who came up with this major scam on home owners? The natural ground has been absorbing water naturally for millions of years!!!! What a major waste of time and money!!!!!
@chinov9445 Жыл бұрын
We need to see this working in action these wells are known to fail in big 🌧️ falls not rare extremely common up our way 🤦🏽♂️😂if a drainage company mentions a dry well u will get kicked out the property because they fail more then they do good 🔬n then the home owner is stuck with a huge mud pit after bid storms that’s what I’ve seen unfortunately 🤷🏽♂️
@francisj.heneghan5220 Жыл бұрын
Did you watch the video? :) These are infiltrators, not drywells. They work, when properly engineered, which takes into consideration storage volume requirements and soil quality. They also should be configured with "pre-treatment" which allows you to collect solids before they enter the chambers. Solids are the enemy.

I recently had Englert Microguard guards installed as part of a new roof/gutter project. I like the design of the guards. I think it's all in the installation. First, my contractor (not Connecticut Gutter from video above) placed the back of the guard over the back of the gutter, and screwed the guard in from the back. Not what the Englert installation instructions say, but I'm sure they do this to assemble on the ground for the sake of efficiency. Going to be a problem if we ever have to replace a guard. (When contacted, Englert mentioned they were considering oking this approach.) Second, my contractor did not overlap the panels, just butted them together. I don't think he is alone in doing this, but again, seems to be contrary to installation instructions on Englert's website, which calls for overlapping. This practice resulted in many "gaps" (vertically) at panel joints. The "fix" for this was to bend metal to make them align as best as possible. Englert inexplicably said that I had an older generation of guard, and this is the way they are supposed to be installed. Still trying to make sense of this (as the pictures in their instructions look just like what I now have on my house). Finally, of lesser concern, the guards are supposed to be folded in at the end caps, and mine are not. In general, the contractor felt that some of the Englert instructions for installation were impractical/unworkable. As I said, I like the guard design. Just make sure you have an agreement with your contractor regarding how they are going to be installed.

I agree with this man. I think everyone prefer to have the old roofing removed. However, some folks are on a budget. I once had a roof put on over the old roof and I know several other people who also did the same (no problem) most people don't pay for lifetime roofing. The Advise given to me by a Roofer is "it depend on the condition of the old roof. If your old roof is in bad condition...DO NOT put a new roof over it and NEVER put on a third layer.

Let’s say you have good insulation but your roof faces sun and you have fluctuating temperatures that melt snow on your roof and form an ice dam, how do you approach this situation?
@t_do3 жыл бұрын
I too would like to know the answer to this...
@CTgutter3 жыл бұрын
Is it a random occurrence? Or happens with most snow accumulations based on the direction of the house? Some homes are just situated in such a way that on a warmer day after a snow event, they incur rapid melting in the roof field while the eaves remains frozen. Its a function of a warmer day after snow and successive cold days. The ultimate fix is to remove as much of the snow above the eaves. This way, you cut off what feeds ice growth. You do not need to get every bit of snow off down to the shingle. In fact, leave a half inch of snow as not to make contact with the shingle (and run the risk of damaging it). Do you have gutter covers or hoods? Excessive metal at the gutter is a great conductor of cold and basically an ice maker with the right temperature fluctuations. Also, on some homes that just always are plagued, we will design and install our custom Ice Arrest system. It runs on a controller, a sensor and very high end, temperature adjusting heat cable. We call it “Ice Arrest”. The system only turns on with freezing temperature AND moisture present. Only one condition and it won’t activate. The heat cable temp is variable based on ambient air temps. We have about a dozen of these systems running on CT homes.

Inaccurate information, as it only applies to certain hooded gutter covers. His claims are not true of Gutter Helmet, and he knows it! Gutter Helmet does work, successfully handling 22" of rain per hour (twice the National Weather Service record for U.S. rainfall) and it does not void the roof warranty. The major roofing manufacturers have tested and approved Gutter Helmet's installation process, and will provide customers with a letter, stating that their roof warranty will not be voided. Frank has an agenda.

Excellent. You hit precisely on issues I'm experiencing with my own gutter guards. They're dirty from tree sap and pollen, so the molecular adhesion concept no longer works well. They're useless in moderate-to-heavy-rains. And birds took up residence beneath them, which blocked a portion of our gutters and caused water to consistently spill over the top of the gutter ... which in turn destroyed our bluestone steps. Looking forward to having these removed.

It amazes me how this video got 7 thumbs down out of 23. This video tells you the absolute truth about what to consider before gutter heating elements. PROPER insulation and air sealing is always step 1. There are a couple other videos I saw here on youtube that touches on ice dam and what i consider legit info...one is from This Old House and the other is from Enduring Charm. But yeah..heating elements is a remedy not a cure imo

I had aluminum gutter guards removed because they caused icycles to form on my gutters. No leaves, but cycles, not good. I was told it was the pitch of the roof that caused this. Any thoughts?
@340rps5 жыл бұрын
Yep. I took of the gutters on the north side of the house. No leaves, icicles or ice dams to worry about. Many people will say rain will now damage the house at ground level. I say to them what about the rain that blows against the house??
@larrycrookshanks16462 жыл бұрын
It has nothing to do with the roof pitch. If it stays cold (under 30 degrees ) for a prolonged period of time with heavy snow load the aluminum gutter or gutter guards ice up then there is no place for melting water to go except over the edge creating icicles. The only way to alleviate icicles is to install commercial heat cables in the gutter and downspouts.

You just want to make more money that's it. I do repairs and you can go in the attic and see if the wood is bad. No contactor just wants to do a second layer because he won't break the bank with all new drip edge, ice guard, underlayment, new soil pipe boots, flashing, roof vents, ect. If people really took out the time they save thousand of dollars knowing what they need to do the job and how much labor is they would figure out how much the contactor is robbing them for. Labor for walker roofs is 90-100sq to to take off put on everything. Jacker roofs 115-130sq off and on everything. Contactor 300plus SQ he makes more then the man doing that job sitting in his office.
