EAI-485 is just crap! We always have problems with ProfiBUS components... ProfiNET is working fine. And i don't get it why they didn't add a cable for the ground connection to the standard. That's just bullshit.

The Mac address is same for all the devices. So, all the devices are not communicating at the same time through the network. It's a bug you need to fix.

Can we connect the BACnet device directly to PC? (as you shown in this video? Yes you can. But you need to have a software install in your computer that act as BACnet IP client like BQT or our free BDT that you can download from our website. Or do we need router ? Even if it is BACnet/IP device. If it is a BACnet IP device you do not need a BACnet router, the only requirement is that your computer and the BACnet IP device need to be in the same IP segment and same Subnet Mask, plus they should be on the same UDP port. See example. Computer: IP: 192.168.92.100 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 UDP port in BACnet Client Application: 0xBAC0 (47808) BACnet IP Device: IP: 192.168.92.68 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 UDP port configure on the device: 0xBAC0 (47808). Now if we could get you to stop letting engineers think that bacnet can do anything. They write very complicated sequences of operation and then buy bacnet only equipment not realizing that we cant control the unit with bacnet. Just give the units some setpoints and thats all. I am so tired of explaining this to commissioning agents. CX says, start the fan... I cant... CX says start a compressor....I cant..... CX says give the unit a fake outdoor air temp ...I cant.... CX says change the speed of the heat wheel....I cant... So until you get equipment manufacturers to allow us to have control of a unit as if we were hard wired to it then the only opinion of bacnet I can put forth is that it really sucks. I've been doing bacnet ever since it was invented and all I see it doing is killing our controller sales and causing great confusion about its capabilities, which it has very few in reality.

After watching this video series I am understanding that BACnet is just a highway of communication signal traffic, no command signal traffic allowed on it i.e. 0-10v, 4-20mA. Your comment confirms it, I think.

Hi , i have been staring at this for awhile now haha .Am I right in saying that all impedances along the circuit are in series without eachother hence the amps(Signal) will be constant throughout the circuit? is this the purpose of matching the impedances throughout the circuit?

I am reviewing BACnet for potential employment opportunity. Thank you for this introductory series. A few comments on the documentation @ 3:22 and 4:03 @3:22 the video state a BACnet Internetwork, To maintain networking consistency of terms I should think that "IntraNetwork" should be used. Internet refers to the public domain networking, while IntraNetworking refers to Private domain networking. 4:03 I believe the diagram illustrating routing from BACnet Ethernet to Ethernet should show the arrows in the opposite direction. As stated earlier, Ethernet has the ability to route IP to MAC but BACnet can not without the one arm BACnet router. The Flow should therefore show a route from BACnet Ethernet station to BACnet Router and then BACnet Router to IP Router.
