A lot of AA rechargeable batteries are 1.2 Volt & not really suitable. They will work for a short time when fully charged. You need to take care to get 1.5 Volt. I got some of the Hixon 1.5 V 3500 mah which are great.

I use Panasonic and they last for 8-10 months. I used to have issues 2 years ago with the ECO Mode. It was heating up to only a 1 degree below the threshold. Wiser advised to reset the system by disabling Eco Mode for 2 weeks (I disabled for 4 weeks) and it did the job, for another 2 wks system was learning the rooms temperature and then started working fine, I recommend you this trick if you have similar issues. For Hot Water I am using Sonoff TH16 with the termal probe inside the cylinder. In this setup it is managing actual temp in the cylinder keeping during the day between 30'C and 38'C and increasing from 5PM to 45'C - 50'C. Highly recommended setup, I saved over 20% a year on gas for Hot Water. I use 9x TRVs and 3x Room Thermostats all setup with Alexa ;) PS: If you run Windows Tablet, just install Alexa and you may have a full house manager from one place. This includes: Sonoff, Wiser, Ezviz cameras and more ;)

You need to use the new lithium rechargeable batteries, they are a full 1.5v or use Duracell pro batteries (which I buy in bulk packs), I get at least a 14 months from these depending on which room they are in before they need replacing.

The voltage supplied by a rechargeable AA battery is not the same as a regular alkaline. It's much lower at about 1.2 to 1.25 v. Not everything that can run with 1.5v AAs can use the lower voltage rechargeables. It looks like the Wiser Rad Valves don't either, well not very well at least.

I think I know why. You are using the standard AA batteries 1.2V. As far as I know you are suppose to use the rare 1.5V ones. You can buy rechargeable ones Amazon. I'm sure this is why you have low battery or they don't last very long.
@anthonycraig274

Rechargeable batteries will die much quicker because they degrade due to heat. Giving less and less charge each cycle. A good set of alkaline Energise or Duracell should do the trick, not the extra cheap ones, those are normally fake.

Rechargeable batteries have a totally different discharge characteristics to once use batteries and aren't suitable for such applications that use relatively high load servo motors. Hence the problem with them only lasting abut a month. Stick with good quality branded batteries - had no problems so far.

I am sure I had this issue initially and at first it was incorrect installation of the wires. A couple of different attempts got it working! I would also if you can bring the router closer to the hub to eliminate WiFi issues( your broadband might be good but your signal might be bad). You can get apps to show you WiFi signal strength. Their tech support is really good and it might be worth giving them a call, they really know their stuff.

I bought the system recently and can say: this is really good. ECO mode does miracles :) I was concidering Danfoss Link however the quality of pre-sale support from Drayton convinced me to go for Wiser. ECO mode requires few days to compute a temp and time needed to heat up the room. I was surprised one day when the system ran boiler for only 60 seconds for one room but then realized that this was enough to heat up the rad to hit the programmed temp in the room. Amaizing! ECO mode combines temp from outdoor and in-room to calculate the best way to hit a target temp in the room. You can also access a graph with the temps, very nice :) What is not working well for me is open window detection... It is probably because the room does not cool down fast enough for the sensor to pick this event.. I wish to have IFTTT feature to trigger open window mode so I can use other systems to run this. I have entire house automated with Sonoff.. Another minus is for hot water management.. It only triggers a hot water for a time, there is no way to check temp on the cylinder. I am going to put back my Sonoff th16 to manage my hot water as it works better... (I have setup system to run HW when the temp on a cylinder drops below 38'C and stops when hits 45'C (have shower pomp, can't go to far with temp :) )

How does this system cope if your Internet is down? I currently have a Drayton MiGenie smart controller and it has cloud capability with smartphone control, inside or outside the home. However, the smartphone feature _requires_ the phone to have Internet access _and_ the miGenie hub to have Internet access. If my home broadband is down, the smartphone app won't work EVEN IF the wifi is up. Being on the same network isn't sufficient, the Internet _must be up_. Fortunately, the wall box fails back to functioning as a traditional central heating controller in that scenario, so the schedule still runs but importantly the settings can all be accessed from the wallbox (basic monochrome LCD screen and menu access). Can you interact with the Wiser system in the event that the internet is down, but the wifi remains up?
@handymistry3156

Joe Sinclair To confirm the you cannot communicate with the device if the internet is down. The app seems to connect to the cloud then to the device. That’s what I have experienced.

SilverHeid Hi there, apologies for the lack of replies. So far so good, one TRV has constantly been using battery, but a phone call to Drayton and they were more than happy to replace it. It’s a good system, I wish they would start adding more features such as geo fencing. And I have noticed the reaction times a little slow, such as the time it takes for the boiler to switch on after requesting heat. But I would still buy this system again as it does what I want.

HandyMistry thanks for the reply, just so happens I bought and installed the system yesterday! Set up was pretty easy although the schedules could do with some polish.
