Helloooo!!! Congratulations so much on your accomplishment!!! It makes me tear up seeing you reach your goals, I know how hard it must be. I'm a 2nd year PT student myself, and I plan to graduate in May. Your videos helped me so much in terms of studying for the boards, and your videos on your clinical experiences were so instrumental for me when I was out on my clinical rotations. I have no doubt that you'll be an amazing PT, and I'm so thankful you made your channel to help students like me not feel so alone.

Also, some inpatient rehabilitation patients having progressive medical conditions that gets worse overtime with or without medical treatment that may be help stopping slowly chronic progressive diseases. Doctors could be say to patient who diagnosed with rare medical conditions" there no medical treatment for that medical condition, just do supportive care or symptomatic care."
@KB_DPT15 күн бұрын
Yes, sometimes our care can be more palliative and/or for those progressive conditions

Some pediatric patients are going to pediatric rehabilitation hospital are planned like patients who has cerebral palsy who needs surgical procedure called selective dorsal rhizotomy to reduce their spasticity and pain when others treatments aren't working.

Yes! Sadly I haven't had the opportunity to work with some of the kids who have undergone that procedure during this clinical, but it is exactly like you said. Kids come for a variety of reasons, both planned and unplanned

When you said that inpatient rehabilitation patients are discharge from rehabilitation hospital to home. Most of the pediatric inpatient rehabilitation patients need to continue to doing physical therapy at outpatient clinic, home and/or school with different pediatric physical therapist.
@KB_DPTАй бұрын
@asiagreen5658 yes, exactly! They get to go home and be in their own space again, but continue getting care through one of the means you mentioned. Inpatient rehab physical therapy is a stepping stone towards other physical therapy settings

What your priorities when you being specialized physical therapist when you graduate from school? ( acute care, general inpatient rehabilitation, school, senior citizens, etc.) You can said "My first goal is working in ___. When I didn't the job I want as a physical therapist from my first goal . Then, my second goal is working in_____." Same thing in third, fourth, fifth and all the specialized physical therapy you can think of.

Love your vids! You popped up on my feed randomly a couple of weeks ago & I’ve been tuned in since. I am currently a sophomore in college majoring in kinesiology with a minor in public health. Is there any thing you did during your sophomore year (or any undergrad year) that prepared you for dpt school? I’ve been a bit stagnant on getting experience/ making connections. Thank you & keep up the good work 🫶🏾!!!
@KB_DPT2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your support!! If you haven’t already (and if your school has one) I would recommend reaching out to your school’s pre-health (or pre-med) advisor. Even if they aren’t specific to PT, but they are connected to the medical field, they can help find and build more of those clinical connections. In terms of generally preparing, I would say focus on your study methods and refining them (spaced repetition, active recall, etc) and establishing a healthy balance of studying and relaxing now as they are important aspects of how you will cope when the content gets harder and comes even faster during DPT school. Also, especially as you get closer to applying, develop solid interviewing skills to use personal stories or examples to display who you are (and who you will be as a future PT). Lastly, know that you’ve got this! The journey can be long and challenging, but it is worth it :) I hope that helps and let me know if there’s anything else I can share to help you out 🫶🏻!!
