Oh, my God, what a nice voice you have! Am I really going to be able to understand something in this program? May God bless you! Sorry for the mistakes, I use a program to translate into your language.

How do I create de .xarc files?? I try using the xgen create from selection and also the generate>export as archive(s)... but it just give me a .log archive that I cannot upload to the add archives :( I saw at the autodesk forum that I have to check the XgenMR.py in the plug-in manager but that it is only available if I install mentalray, wich I obliouly don't want to do cause I don't want to render on mental ray. Is there another way to create .xarc files or to add other kinf of archives to my xgen archive files. Working on maya 2019 and definitely not using mentalray

I had the same problem, the only solution was try in Maya 2018 with Mental Ray and works fine...

Thanks!! I found that Maya has a Batch converter. So the trick is to have the geometry you want to use for the xgen generator in a single scene. Then you go to the scene with the plane (or where you are going to do the job) and go to Generete> Batch Convert Scene to Archive(s) and select the scene you want for the .xarc file. That's a way to do it without having to download another version of maya. I saw that many users think that the converter is a plug in or that you have to download it from somewhere but no, maya already has it! :)

its very creative technique but someone at work challenged me to do this with softimage ICE and it took me 40 minutes to set up and less than a minute to render

Lee Grigg's working tool is Maya, but you're correct that you could pull this effect off in ICE with minimal effort. It would be nice to see your results :-)

Looks nice. Is there any way in softimage to create actions for a custom actor, or i have to use motionbuilder? And is there a way to randomize our crowd? For example, i create different hair styles, cloths, but they are in the same crowd mesh?
@autodesksuitehowtos10 жыл бұрын
crowdfx is a lot of fun :-) you can definitely create animation for a character and store action sources of it in softimage. there are different ways of randomizing a character as well, from adding shape keys to varying the materials + textures, which sounds like what you want to do with different clothes and hair. check the softimage user guide for more info on these topics and have fun!
