@@tommy_casual Getting serious in singing when you buy your own high-end microphone, and it help a lot to project your voice better than the sound engineer 😀
@tommy_casual18 сағат бұрын
Naturally. I'm also too damn broke for a mic myself. But the sound engineer at this venue has to deal with a lot of change from song to song, as the singer changes each go. The audio sounded fine in person most times, but on the recording it seems a little quieter. Maybe needed a smidge more on the high end to cut through the bass a bit?
@KantangGiovan16 сағат бұрын
@@tommy_casual yea you have a point. Your voice needs to amplify bigger. That will bring the song really good.

DEI has killed 10 people in Los Angeles.
@tommy_casualКүн бұрын
DEI hasn't killed anyone. A fire has killed 10 people. If you're referring to the current LA Fire Chief, she's a HIGHLY accomplished and decorated firefighter and has worked in nearly every level of firefighting, and has been in her position for two years and has run a well-oiled, albeit underfunded group. To assume she was hired because she's a woman is to discredit her 25 years of service and hard work. Given that your account is faceless, firstname lastname, random numbers---- Implying that you're either a bot or a troll account, its not surprising to me that you have been commenting this kind of useless crap. That and you don't reply to comments, you make new comments to make sure yours are most visible. Bot or Troll behavior in its classic form. In summation, DEI hasn't killed anyone. DEI isn't responsible for the fire. And you're ignorant as hell, or you're just some bot.

You are wrong. Dig just a bit deeper or use different sources.
@tommy_casual3 күн бұрын
Literally every reputable source says "The fire started in a backyard, and due to weather conditions, burned out of control." LA literally has a "Fire season" wildfires are part of their ecosystem. What's making this one different is that it's hitting a residential area full of wealthy homes. Still, has -nothing- to do with DEI. DEI remains a good thing, full stop, and also has nothing to do with the LA Fires.

It's been helpful but I hardly think of myself as confident. I'm still feeling sick to my stomach every time I go up there! But like everything, it's a work in progress. I'm sure you'd do a great job up there. Just pick a song you know well and work on it. If you ever find yourself in Boston, check this spot out, (Viva Karaoke) because it's such low-stakes fun, no cost to get in, and the crowd is extremely supportive. All the best. And what does a fire in LA have anything to do with DEI?
@robertlambert34475 күн бұрын
Potential bias? If on we name sounds black and thd other white who gets hired? 😅 the bias says the person with the black name, coreect? What if both are white or both are black? Regardless, you are supporting rasicm!
@tommy_casual5 күн бұрын
Racism is a top-down application of prejudice and tribalism. Meaning, whichever social group is on top of the social hierarchy, cannot be the victim of racism. (White people in this case) But I digress. The study showed that one guy, submitting two identical resumes, one with a black name, and one with a white name. The -white- name is the one that got the responses. The reason this happened, is because of bias within the hiring process. DEI has helped remove that bias by making resumes anonymous in many offices that implement them. | If you take away the bias that can be associated from a resume listing a name that suggests race, or having an address showing the candidate living in a predominantly minority neighborhood--- what you wind up getting is a more merit-based hiring process. Which inevitably results in more diverse candidates being hired, because many qualified people were previously turned away because they were a minority race. And the organization I work for has DEIA (DEI) still functioning, and we operate strong. We're often considered the leader for our niche industry across the US, and that's because we only hire based on merit. We have a diverse leadership. Diverse team. Tons of languages, cultures, backgrounds---- all working together to the same goal. DEI is a good thing. Full stop.

Anti Whitism
@tommy_casual5 күн бұрын
It's less anti-anyone and more pro-humanity. And why is something that helps diverse people considered "anti-white"? Do you think that white people should be one side and diversity should be the other? Because if so, that means you're a racist. Racism exists only within a power structure that allows tribalism to be applied from a top-down direction. It's not possible to be racist against white people in America because white people are on top of that social dynamic. A social dynamic that DEI and DEIA works to correct and make equal. Which isn't anti-white. It's pro-equality, pro-diversity, pro-humanity.
@LupusRex-hf2rl6 күн бұрын
DEI is a bad thing, and making new forms of it doesn't make it any better. Go to a black owned business. Do you think a white sounding name is going to get hired over a black sounding name? 😂
@tommy_casual3 күн бұрын
Depends on who the hiring manager is I guess. But DEI benefits in that situation as well, by -removing- the name from the hiring process. Now the people getting the invitations to interviews are entirely merit-based. Because the bias associated with names has been removed. DEI is a good thing, and it's been proven to be a beneficial structure within businesses since implementation. Complaints against the companies for discriminatory practices have gone significantly down. Workplaces are being reported as being less toxic and more enjoyable. At the end of the day, the people who are bitchy about DEI are people who don't like it that white people's privilege is being leveled out. White people are scared that without the benefit of systemic racism, they'll actually need to do the work to get hired.
@LupusRex-hf2rl3 күн бұрын
@tommy_casual That's not how it works, DEI hires solely on race and gender. And the problem with DEI is they are hiring unqualified people to meet bs government and banking standards. I've been a manager for 30 years, and not once did I say, "Oh wait, that sounds like a black name." The racist left is the ones discriminating during hiring is what I've seen over the years.
@tommy_casual3 күн бұрын
You're using anecdotes to label an entire system. Just because YOU might not be racist, doesn't mean that the system isn't rigged against minority groups. I've been a hiring manager, I've been working for the organization I've been at for nearly a decade. We implemented DEIA before DEI became the nationwide effort it is today. Statistics show the benefits of DEI. You seem to be under the impression that DEI just picks people just because of their race regardless of qualification as if that wouldn't make for an immediate lawsuit. DEI is not hitting, a "diversity quota" it means to be equitable with available work, job opportunities and promotions.
@LupusRex-hf2rl2 күн бұрын
@tommy_casual Isn't that what you're doing with the name thing? I mean, most minorities that I know have normal names like Brian and Tom. Saying someone has a certain name because of their race sounds kinda racist. I know, you probably think they can't get ID to vote even. But all that supposed support comes off as racist because you're judging someone's ability to get a job solely on their race. I've seen a ton of these so-called DEI things, "showing up on time is racist, Doing your job while at work is racist." I could go on and on. It's America, buddy it is what you make it. Nobody needs your excuses.
@tommy_casualКүн бұрын
A) I'm not talking about people with certain names. I'm talking about biases connected to certain names. To deny that biases exist is ignorant. B) The names are -removed- in DEI hiring practices. Racial indicators are absent. Meaning that candidates get invited to interviews without ever knowing or having a clue what race someone is. That means a more diverse candidate pool of qualified candidates are brought in. You dwelling on this name thing is telling me you either don't understand it, or you're choosing not to because you don't have any other valid arguments--- C) Your "So-Called DEI" examples do not appear in -any- literature on DEI policy anywhere in the US. What you're seeing is either misinformation or blatantly out of context information. Your reliance on anecdotes is so lazy that you're putting in zero effort to look beyond your own personal experiences. You can't be in the hiring room of every company, or in every town and city in this country either. You saying "iTs BaD bEcAuSe I sAw tHiS tHiNg---" doesn't change the realities that thousands upon thousands of people encounter daily. DEI is a good thing. D) You're absolutely a bot account, or a troll account. Your opinion means nothing. You're a faceless, firstname, lastname, random characters account. That tells me you're either a troll account or a bot account. Either way, go kick rocks.

It's used to eliminate bias from the workplace. It promotes merit-based hiring and promoting. It builds better teams and better companies.
