@spencermoritz35104 ай бұрын
Only about 90 mins to the top. But I made it a loop and walked over to the Mount Britton Tower as well, totaling about 3 hours for the full trip.
@beckytesch6963 ай бұрын
@@spencermoritz3510 Just to clarify. Did it take you an hour and a half to get from the parking lot to the Picachos observation platform? The forestry website says that it is 0.2 miles. We are pushed for time and would love to see it, but we are unsure if we have 3 hrs.

Ever been to Razz Lake? I guess there is an upper & lower one but which one we were at back in the day (1972) I have no way of knowing now. I had thought all these years that there was only one. To get to it we had to check the map sinc e there was no trail up to it from the switchback trail we were on. It was not difficult to find as the route to it uphill took only about 15-20 minutes. From the ridge north of the lake one eventually has a view of the Matterhorn. Apparently there is or was a non technical scramble along a ridge that separates the Matterhorn from Sacagawea Peak. Would be great to try that sometime. These are the 2 highest Wallowa Peaks, apparently.

I saw you posted this 4 months ago and I was thinking that there is no way the it looks like that in March. Saw the description - makes waaay more sense. We did this one by camping at the tarn between the two weeks and making it an overnight, second day was still long. walking the ridge between the two had so much elevation gain and drop.

Hey Casey!!! Yeah, I saw your post on Peakbagger for the Craggies. You did it during that crazy heat wave we had two years ago. My sister and I hiked it in early fall last year... we had planned to traverse over to West Craggie and get both but we were short on daylight so we opted to just do Big Craggie that day. We went back a month ago (June 2023) and got West Craggie which I felt was much easier that Big Craggie... less chossy and a more enjoyable route. Maddy and I are both working through the Bulger list... although she is more hardcore than me... I only have 15 or so...

We seem to have similar taste in mountains! Did this a couple years ago, such a cool and underrated mountain. Your weather was a bit clearer than I had, amazing views of the crest. My route was a little different, I came up the road/trail to the north to make a loop out of it. I traversed over to Hawkins East/The Thimble as well which was an awesome scramble. That ridge on the hike back you commented on may have been my favorite section, so beautiful. Love that area, keep up the adventures!
