Hi Norm! We have been looking all day for the cemetery, we cant seem to find it. We found the upper portal and alot of the foundations in the lower but cant find the cemetery. Any guidance?

I was in Europe when this happened, and could only get information by You Tube which was very spotty. I'm very sorry to hear this happened to one of my favourite places in the world. I'm glad the initial evacuation was successful. Was sorry to learn a firefighter later lost his life fighting the fires. You were in my thoughts, and I glad you are safe. I look forward to you explaining the rebirth of this unique location.

Thanks for your kind words, Jim. There has been a lot of destruction, and we mourn the loss of a young firefighter, Morgan Kitchen. But we will rebuild and nature will take care of its own restoration. Many of the animals have already returned to the area. And residents can start returning as early as this Friday, Aug 16th. I will certainly be in the Park keeping everyone updated on our progress! -Norm

It broke my heart the night the fire hit town and they had to pull the responders out, I feared the worst. I am so grateful that they were able to save so much of the town and area, they really did an amazing job.

John and I were horrified to learn of the fires, 😢 We are so sorry Norm….. We have travelled to over 44 countries across the world and Canada 🇨🇦 is the most beautiful one of them all, we were lucky enough to meet you too Norm. Thank you for being you….. It’s a heartbreaking experience but you still have the rest of the National Park and Banff National Park and Jasper will grow and be beautiful again. ❤ Xxx

Thank you so much for reaching out, I appreciate your kindness. The fire damage is absolutely devastating, but we are so blessed that no one was hurt, everyone was evacuated to safety in time! We will rebuild the town and nature will take care of the rest! Parks Canada has already documented many animals returning to the area. Some of the tree species in the forest actually need fire to open seed pods for new trees to grow, and the fireweed and berries will be plentiful in a few years. You are right - Jasper will be beautiful again!!

How many foot prints and traffic travelled through the spruce trees from the log cabins @ jp1 to the river to fetch water, etc. I was just working on a ranch on the athabasca river upstream from this an old rail way stop. I found a pearl button, and an old diecast metal toy car. I know the car is from the 30-50s but the button could be much much older. As only had two holes and made from pearl. Keep your eyes peeled in the layers of dirt never know what you’ll find. But respectfully if it’s a monument. Contact the museum.
