7:11, the girl says "Germans are more easy-going than the Turks", I found it a bit offensive as a Turkish man(I am living in Türkiye). Both cultures has its own pros and cons. It is not that strict. Let's recall some cons for German side; According to a couple of statistics Germans among the top countries that cheat within marriage. Besides, I am sure still there is some burnt flesh smell in the air since there are some group of people in Germany who love to fire around (you got what I meant) I am planning to do my masters in mathematics and contribute to the society that I live in, want to travel around and see the world. But just because of those kind of racist thoughts I do not want to even get out of my country. Note that you can come to our country and enjoy our beautiful nature as well as hospitality.

I would compare it to bright sun when you took sunglases because of it... there is nothing wrong with you... we just arent used to it.. thats it 🙂 I have a american friend she is very polite, warm etc. ... even Im pretty extrovert person... english speaking... i took some time for me to get used to it... p.s. Im not from capital... I guess its different than rest of country but it will be case of all places over the globe anyway I guess 🙂

Mr GF is from Czech and grew up during Communism. She is always turning off the lights when not in the room. Luckily for me I'd do the same as my Father grew up during the Great Depression. So I sometimes say, " Are you sure you're not German? " As us German American are known for hard work and being frugal.

In my opinion Czech food is one of the best in the world. It lacks freshness sometimes: like obviously fresh seafood that I love but in every other aspect -it's the best. No other cuisine can create so much flavor from simple ingredients. Czech soups and stews are better than anything I tasted in Italy or France, yet those cultures are celebrated for food.

Why are they here in the first place? Didn't the typical Italian Machiavelist attitude from the likes of Berluscorni or Fabrizio Corona to mention some prototypes with standard Italian mentality live up to your expectations?

Dutch are very friendly and quite social, the habits we learned from Italy and use in our daily lives are enjoying a good cup of coffee and the Dutch sometimes eat pasta several times a week, even though as a Dutchman I make the best fresh basil pesto possible, Mama and Nonna make it even better. Does France have super good wines? The ones from Italy really are tastier. Italians are traditional, hospitable and warm, but also very confident; Nothing beats their country, cuisine and customs! The Dutchman has planned his life so we don't waste each other's time! Italians are generally disorganized and the only thing predictable is that they are unpredictable. Rarely do they plan anything (and when they do, their plans change at the last minute), as one of the rules of Italian life is spontaneity. However, don't expect employees to be punctual. When they do go to work, they do not have their proper work gear with them. They are also bad at meeting deadlines. They often do not take urgency, keeping appointments, dates, opening hours and deadlines into account (the football match is the only event that starts on time). In August, the Italian population goes on holiday and there is nothing to do at home (except the tourist sector). Italy is also known for its corruption (and the Mafia). There is corruption at every scale in society, even in government. Tax evasion is the national sport and you certainly don't have to be involved in the hidden economy to be part of it.

Amsterdam still is tolerant when you compare it to the rest of the country which is changing the last years. We are becoming less tolerant to people who just take lot but don’t give a shit. Many expats buy or rent with their tax profits houses, so younger Amsterdammer have to leave their city. Those expats socialite with other expats and don’t speak the language of the country they live in. We speak english to them and they do no effort to do a step in our direction. As an Amsterdammer you feel a bit misused this way. It irritates. As a whole it’s nice to live in a city where almost every nationality, culture and believe is present. Think about feasts, food and music. But one should living here become a bit Amsterdammer with own cultural background and don’t just live on your island with huge ‘grachten/canals’ around you and no bridges.

I lived in Amsterdam for 17 years and eventhough all the generalizations are true, I think it's just very rude to speak so harshly about the country you have chosen to live in. I mean, there's not a single mention of something positive. And this is a very typical stance on foreigners in Amsterdam. They love to talk sh*t about it, but they chose to stay. If a Dutch person gives the inevitable question "if it's so horrible why don't you leave?" They call her racist 😂

So an open letter to the "latin" as he calls himself gentleman, the sentiment goes both ways, we also find you very rude if you come into the office every day going "HELLO" at everyone loudly, being all buddy buddy, touchy feely, standing close together or whatever else if common down south. You dont get to be friendly with everyone here, that shit is earned, we dont smile at everybody, we smile at people we like, we keep our talks to ourselves, if you stand to people closer than 1 meter, rude as hell, also the handshake, if your handshake is weak or for some godforbidden reason you used your left hand, consider yourself done. Please think of Czechia like England or Japan, quiet reserved is good, loud and standoutish is bad, very bad.
@Tangocita44413 күн бұрын
I am an American married to a Czech man. We visit Czech Republic often to visit his family. I have to disagree that Czechs are unilaterally rude. It's a cultural difference to many countries - the USA included - that they are very reserved upon first meeting them. I believe part of this stems from the formal vs. informal aspect of their language translating into real life formalities. I also think that living under Communism changed their culture to a large degree because you couldn't trust your. neighbors to not turn you in for saying something "wrong" or against the regime. In any event, I have been treated with nothing less than the most amazing hospitality and friendliness outside of Prague (Plzen and the surrounding areas is where his family resides). Everyone takes us in and can't feed us enough! Food is love in this country IMO. 🙃 That being said, the average Czech on the street will not smile at you and be superficial or warm towards you - they don't know you and don't care. But once they get to know you, or are even introduced to you by someone they like or care about, they you almost become family to them. I am always dismayed at this misconstruction of the Czech culture because it is a false assumption - and, I think, is more true in Prague than anywhere else. If I had to live with that many tourists around all the time I might be a little rude and cranky at times, too.

I think the biggest contributor of this stereotype is by how the French view customer/worker relations. In the US, the customer is king... always. They are the source of the business's income and therefore what the customer wants, is what they get. It's a money-motivated society and so that's how it works. In France, a person's dignity is always going to be more important than your money therefore if you give a service worker an attitude, you are almost guaranteed to get an attitude back.

But about being more spontaneous: it is getting better slowly but yes we live and plan more with the agenda. But I have friends (acquaintances ? :D ) in Italy, near Bologna, and sure, it is a nice habit that when weekend is coming on people call each other (people call each other a LOT!) to discuss what to do in the weekend and they are very easy to agree to go meet and/or do this or that. BUT: my experience is that on the other hand they are equally easy to cancel last minute because 'sono incasinato (busy)' or they probably might have something they like more etc. So the spontaneousness is nice but also involves some unreliability. Whereas if you have planned something with a Dutch, we will not cancel unless some big disaster and you better be there exactly on time, we definitely will haha :D !
