Yes, you do. Some first main employers allow you to start working while your social security is being processed or even not applied for as yet (especially if you haven’t met the 10 day requirement in the US), I think it depends on the state. But at the end of the day they must get a social security for you because it’s the law. For second jobs, again it goes back to the employer and the state and also your sponsor who will approve that second job. You can probably check your agency and/ or the US website for more accurate information.

Hi, so there are two courses that are needed to qualify for a level 1 course and I think I might fail the one for semester one. How is that going to affect me since they don’t have the course I failed in semester 1 in semester two?

Finding free textbooks online are indeed hard. If your school has a book rental system, you could try to get it there. Also try to utilize different CSEC math channels on KZbin to help. Every school is different for eg. courses done in first year at UWI doesn’t count towards degree GPA. So if they ask you for your current GPA, more than likely it’s the previous semester’s GPA.

Yes, 3 yrs at UWI, 4 yrs at Utech and 4 yrs also at NCU.

I don’t know if that is possible. You would need the CAPE bio and CAPE chemistry or a (first)bachelors degree or do the preliminary year at UWI. The websites are in the description as well as you can call each school and see if there is a pathway that works for your situation.

Contact them and see if they do. Technically instead of a 3 year degree, it would become a 4 yr degree that you are pursuing at UWI (including prelim year) and it is priced the same as all the other years of the program so I don’t see why they wouldn’t pay for it. Contact them and see.

hey if you fail your prelim biology semster 1 are you able to still pass the course in semster 2? or will u have to redo all of the course

Prelim is made up of two separate courses. Prelim 1 is done in semester 1 and prelim 11 in semester 2. Even though the first prelim 1 is foundation for prelim 11, you can still register for prelim 11 in semester 2 and then resit prelim 1 final exam whenever it’s available, whether in semester 2 or during the summer. You will have to check with the department regarding that, but overall even if you fail prelim bio 1, you can still register for prelim bio11 in semester 2. You just won’t be able to move to level 1 if you don’t have both.

I’m not sure, the regular requirement is CSEC chemistry but there could be exceptions. Email UWI admissions and they will be able to respond to you with the correct answer.

If you do one year of sixth form or no sixth form at all, you have to do prelim. You can transfer from prelim if your grades are competitive and also if you can afford to pay the fees. The main reason some students don’t transfer is because they cannot afford the medical school fees.

Same price as a full year of University at UWI. The preliminary year would make your degree a 4 year degree instead of a 3 year degree at UWI.
