you forgot the 56 Lumen Emergency Triangle LED Work Light, its a magnetic light with a hook and it lights up white or orange and flashes, great for sticking to your trunk to let people know your there, always keep 2 in your bag for front and rear of the car.

Just throw it out, when you mix old fuel with new fuel your actually just contaminating the new fuel and while it may fire up and run. The damages caused is now being extended as you run the contaminated fuel for longer periods of time. All the sediments that are broken down in the fuel not to mention the build of algae that is now mixed throughout the fuel has a higher chance of damaging your motor due to the sediment being broken down into smaller parts allowing it to get past the fuel filter and causing build up on the piston or cylinder walls. Infact what you are doing is far worse than trying to run the fuel in its dirty state without mixing it in with new fuel. Just thought I’d share that with you as it seems to be a common misconception, by all means if your not planning to get a lot more usage out of the motor then it’s fair to say your not harming it but if you have new expensive machinery, especially small engines, it’s vital that you use the best fuel. Some manufactured ask for the highest premium RON octane rating fuel etc

Because I wasn't spending time in the garage I felt like it was safe and the best way to keep the generator under cover. I don't think I would have worked in the garage with the generator there.

Don’t forget to drop the tire from Tim to time to check the inflation and for corrosion, so it’s ready to use when needed. Always replace with the valve stem down and to the rear so you can check the inflation easily with the tire raised. Dropped mine last week, clean the rim and checked the inflation on my 2020 Rebel.

@FourAcres can you PLEASE send a link for the carburetor or manufacturer and part number? I have the exact FS74. It was my dad's and he is no longer with us. I would love to get it going again!
@karlschwab64376 ай бұрын
Actually, mine is the FS-76, not a FS-74 as you stated here. Remove the carburetor, very easy to do, get the number (s) off of it; and do a Internet search for a rebuild kit. Your carb maybe different from mine. Make sure to, that you have spark before going to much further. This is a great machine, worth the time and effort in my opinion.

Just pick up an old Stihl FS76 string trimmer out of the local landfill for nothing; appear to be all there but the engine is locked up, that's where I am at the moment. This one does not the handles like yours but is a straight shaft with the usual string trimmer throttle controls. I don't plan on putting any money in this one, just my time, more for fun. Coban is pretty amazing stuff. I carry a much smaller roll of tape in my first aid kit and have replaced my large tape roll with ace bandages for when I need to hold gauze onto a larger cut. You can fold them flat (rather than rolled like Coban is) and they are so much nicer than tape for using on large body parts such as arms, legs etc - especially for those of us with hair!
@FourAcres9 ай бұрын
That's a good idea, I should add in an ace bandage anyway. I'll add that to my shopping list!

@FourAcres10 ай бұрын
Yup - good call. First aid is super important. I was trying just to focus on tools. At some point I'll do a big video that has everything I keep in my rig - this was a toolkit for my kid's boyfriend for his car. Other things I think are really important are a sleeping bag or blanket, a water bottle, extra layers, tow strap, rope, there's lots. Anything else you keep in your rig that you have found useful?
@jontnoneya340410 ай бұрын
Absolutely love what you're doing here. However, I would like to know the total cost (not using coupons) for your entire set up. Maybe add it to the video description? Also, I was just doing the same but I'm not sticking with only HF tools. For me, this tool kit is to be used ONLY in case of an emergency, not repairs and maintenance when I'm home. So the warranty isn't the issue, reliability IS. SO while I like the idea, I'm going to stock mine with other, more reliable tools. However in the spirit of your video, here's what I would suggest: 1 - Replace the screwdrivers with the Quinn 15 piece set or maybe the diamond tipped set altho the diamond tipped set is said to bend easily. It's just a little more expensive and the screwdrivers are much better. That Pittsburgh set is notoriously bad. I've heard so many complaints from people where the rubber falls off, to the tool breaking or even bending when put under minimal load, etc. 2 - I would add locking pliers - you know, Vice Grip pliers. Not sure which brand is best here as HF sells 2 different ones. 3 - Pliers - I've heard so many bad things about those Pittsburgh pliers I wouldn't trust them. I swap them for the Quinn set, which has riveted pivot points instead of nut and bolt. Or maybe even cobble together a set from Doyle. I absolutely LOVE the Doyle pliers I've used. They're amazing and inexpensive. 4 - I would add a 1/2 inch ratchet, a 1/2 inch breaker bar and the 1/2 inch Pittsburgh or Maddox Lug Nut socket set. This could be invaluable as lug nuts are notoriously difficult to get loosened and if the car either doesn't have a lug wrench or it's poorly made, this could save your bacon. 5 - Pry Bar - I wouldn't worry about a set of these as you only need one. Maybe like one that's 8 - 12 inches. This can be SUPER handy. Again I prefer Quinn over Pittsburgh personally. 6 - Battery Terminal Cleaner - this is a small wire brush specifically made for cleaning battery terminals. You never know when that little issue might cause your car to die and it would be so helpful to have one. HF sells these and they're really fantastic and inexpensive. 7 - Wheel Chocks - and you need at a minimum 2 of these but 4 would be better. These will help keep your car from rolling if you're changing a tire which would further your repair bills and could seriously injure people. 4 is NOT for all 4 wheels but 2 on 2 wheels, preventing forwards and backwards movement of the car. HF puts these on sale all the time for like $4 each. 8 - Tow Strap - never know when you might need to be pulled out. (But this IMO is optional). Also I would make sure that Pittsburgh socket set you showed has a socket that will work with your battery terminals. If the size is not in the set swap one out. If you need to emergency battery swap and you don't have the right size, it could be a problem. Gloves - I totally agree with leather but you also might want to add some Hardy Winter Work Gloves. They're thicker and will help keep your hands warmer in the winter if you have to get out and work. You might want to throw in some Mylar Emergency Thermal blankets. Not sold at HF but a pack of 10 sells on Amazon for like $10. Oh also just found a set of Poncho's with the mylar emergency thermal material inside. They're only like $20 for a pack of 4 on Amazon and could provide much needed rain and thermal protection. Also maybe find an inexpensive "Please Send Help" sign that you could tie to the car if you're really stuck somewhere with no phone coverage.
@FourAcres10 ай бұрын
These are great ideas, and I really appreciate the point about making sure you can tighten battery terminals. I'll incorporate your ideas into my rig as well. I had my hand on a breaker bar, but knew I was over my spending limit, so had to stop somewhere. I also knew I could do a 2.0 kit next year, for Christmas or his birthday again. I'll put totals in the description when I get a chance today (I purposely didn't list it before because I knew he was gonna watch the video, but he's seen it now) - I gotta get to work, but the total came out to something like $140. Thanks!
