Justin Gatlin and Christian Coleman as 1st and 2nd leg were a crazy duo

I remember in 1964, I was a sophomore in high school and we were at the West Coast Relays. In those days, the West Coast Relays was the biggest relays going. There were more world records broken at Ratcliffe Stadium than on any track in the world. I can still remember vividly being on the inside of the track at about the 50 yard line when the the high school 100 yard dash final went down at dusk. Jim Hines was of the power house track team of McClymonds High School, Oakland, CA. At the 50 yard line Jim Hines threw it into high gear, pumping his head to and fro, trying to get an edge on the rest of the field. His speed seemed unwordly to me as he won in 9.4 seconds. I remember his time equalling Jesse Owens' high school world record that was over 30 years old. The Ratcliffe Stadium track was still on cinder, not to be rubberized until a year later. When Jim broke the world record of 9.95 secs in the 100m at the 1968 Olympics it stood for a full 15 years. I can't help but notice that some people nowadays seem to have a disdain for what was done years ago. They need to understand that all of this had to have come before, in order for things to have gotten to what's happening today. It's really true, that things are built on the backs of giants. Jim Hines was truly a giant when it was all still just an amateur sport with no real money for athletics.

I had the fortune to have shared being on the same C class team as Lee, while at Central High School in Fresno County, California. Lee was a sophomore and he could have easily ran on the Varsity team but the racist coach wouldn't allow him to. Nor, would he even let him try out for the cross country team. On the bus, coming from a track meet, I mentioned to Lee what a great 330 yds he had run. He was really happy that someone had noticed him, and he began to talk about his strategy in the race. That racist coach came from the front of the bus and yelled at the top of his lungs, "Shut up (N-word)!!!! then slammed lee on the top of his head with his open palm so hard that I was sure he'd hurt him badly. The whole bus went quiet, except for the rumble of the old bus itself, and stayed quiet for the rest of the 20 mile ride back to our school. I never saw Lee again as he never came back to that school. I later heard he had moved to San Jose to finish high school. I can't help but think how that racist incident, and no doubt others, radicalized a young Lee Evans. Lee co-founded the Olympic Project for Human Rights. He was one of the first coaches, if not the first, to have taken his sprint mechanics and coaching techniques to Jamaica, and to many, many countries of the African continent. He lived the later part of his adult life in Lagos, Nigeria.

Not much substance there, but for those of us still suffering KT withdrawal syndrome, it's a welcome hit, anyhow. I think Katelyn is the fundamental reason why we saw high school records she broke set by Mary Cain now being broken and rebroken by an entire micro generation of girls like Sadie Engelhardt, Beth Leachman and others. According to her close friend Haleigh Morales, Tuohy already required security at her meets when she was in 7th and 8th grade. When Kelsey Chmiel talked Coach Henes into going to a meet to see Katelyn, Henes was blown away by the mob. And there were a lot of young girls in that mob. It's much like (on a much larger stage and scale) the Caitlin Clark phenomenon, that has ignited interest in women's basketball that has never been seen before.

I have the same issue you did, I usually get out my first 200 in 23.9 and finish in 28-30. I’m trying to run 49/48 this year. Do you have like a 5 or 6 day template that I could follow? The template is usually based on the individual, time of year etc. A roughly template is M-Speed T-extensive tempo W-recovery TH-intensive tempo F-Endurance S-Special Endurance Weight Training I keep simple, body weight exercise and major lifts (squats/ deadlifts)..plenty of core. If you’re looking for more detailed training check out my site in the description for virtual training. I think it’ll help a lot. Thanks for watching.

How can I learn the measurements of the track? I’m not too sure what’s exactly how many meters
@TRACKHEADZTV2 ай бұрын
Most measurement can be researched using google. But in short. A track is 400m, half the track is 200m. 1/4 of the track is 100m. From those measurements alone you can calculate most distances around the track.

hey sir! i just wanna ask you please bout what is a tempo run?
@TRACKHEADZTV2 ай бұрын
Depends on the event. But for sprinters a tempo run is a submaximal run @60-75% with very short rest. It stimulates your aerobic system. Which can help you recover faster in between workouts.

@@CarterCJ-u5f top speed and max velocity are interchangeable phrases. Both are trained by distance ranging from 40m-80m. Both can also be trained by doing fly work as well.. 30-60m flys. The goal for max velocity/ top speed workouts is to improve your ability to ran at top speed. Effort is usually at 95-100%. Hope that helps. And thanks for watching.

@TRACKHEADZTV2 ай бұрын
I’m theory it should be (10.93). But in the actual race my splits were 11.22/10.64. You have to account for the curve. The curve slows down that 10.93 and you have to make that up in the straight with a flying 100m.

My advice to Femke Bol is to eat lots of Pork Bacon (fat and meat) and whole eggs and dairy buttered potatoes or whole grain toast. Olympic Gold Medallsts are notorious for consuming MASS QUANTITIES of these substances like CONE HEADS from Saturday Night Live (SNL) from years and years ago. Johnny Weissmuller (1924 Paris Olympic Gold Medalist in Swimming) ate 1 pound of pork bacon and 1 dozen eggs and 1 loaf of dairy buttered toast at every meal every day. PORK LARD is crucial for athletic recovery to avoid INFLAMMATION. Femke needs to find a way to reach hurdle 10 at 44.50 seconds and finish in 5.5 to 5.8 seconds to the finish line. Run through the finish with arms pumping, not stationary behind her like SML does which slows SML down like a deployed parachute. Did Femke Bol make technical mistakes in the 400mH at the Paris Final? Or were her legs just maxed out from relays? Edwin Moses said you have to compete in 400mH often to prevent making mistakes. Femke runs more races than Sydney. The experts say Karsten Warholm never makes mistakes. Maybe so before 2023. Well I saw him stumble against Rai Benjamin at the 2024 Paris Olympics Final. And I saw Warholm hit the last barrier/hurdle to lose to Alison dos Santos in a 2023/2024 Diamond League or 2023 World Championship Final.
