This was a comment i made on one of your previous videos about the rising tide.. not sure if you saw it.. not sure it applies to your goals.. but the idea is about spreading positivity.. here is what i said before maybe it will be helpful as it gives a real life example......... Perhaps its the Positivity that is lifting people up.. I think positivity can have a domino effect, as we have positive interactions we are in a better mood and therefore end up giving someone we interact with that day a positive vibe then they give that positive vibe to people they encounter and that wave of positivity lifts all those up like a rising tide. I'll give you a TRUE story example.. This will be long forgive me.. hopefully those who read will find it worth the read. My Grandfather was a Colonel in the Airforce, this was back in the 60's. He was assigned to a base that was not doing very well the productivity was way down, the base was having a lot of disciplinary problems MP's having to be called for domestic issues or bar fights far too often. The overall moral of the base was low. My Grandpa said that for the first month he would walk the base and everyone just seemed to be in a terrible mood, very unpleasant. So after assessing the situation for a few months he called a big meeting with the heads of the departments on the base and made a proposal. He said I know you all will think this is crazy but this is what we are going to do. I want to have Smiley face stickers on every main entrance of every building on the base, in addition I want to replace the carpets as you enter the buildings with the ones with messages on it.. LIKE HAVE A GREAT DAY, or DON'T BE THE PROBLEM BE THE SOLUTION.. ECT.. Just positive messages on display as you enter every building. In addition he had them get the Birthdays of every person on the base and he and the generals on base would all sign Birthday cards for them and have them mailed to them on that day. He asked for the people in charge to make a effort to greet the airmen each day as they came to work, nothing special just make a effort to say something nice as a greeting when they came into work.. Well.. 4 months later they had a meeting to evaluate the situation.. it didn't happen over night but the productivity by the end of the 4th month had increased dramatically amd the number of problems for the MP's had dropped a very significant amount. Two of the Generals who had been at that base for more than 2 years spoke at the meeting and said that they quite frankly thought that the idea was ridiculous but admitted they were wrong.. They gushed that the overall atmosphere of the base had completely changed. They said that they had never seen such a turnaround in such a short time and the entire meeting gave Grandpa a standing ovation... It was so simple but slowly having positive messages around the base had an effect on the peoples overall moods and then they passed that on to everyone they saw and a domino effect took place.. The base or ship had been lifted on a wave or the rising tide of positive energy. Sorry about the Novel.

We have embraced weird in this household. My favourite saying is "Normal is a figment of someone else's imagination." I know I am terrified of that little unblinking eye of a camera, I've never been one to love the sound of my own voice. But...I know why I want to do it, what I want to achieve, and where I want to go. The only person I'm letting down and holding back is me.

Have you heard me talk about 'parts' of you? Part of you wants to create, and part of you has reservations! So, if you agree with this idea, you are letting down part of you and pleasing another part of you!!! (This idea - that there are parts and that there are no bad parts is from IFS - Internal Family Systems - if you are curious) PS Do I need to say I'm not a medical professional of any kind? I'm not!

I've asked myself the same question, and on the surface it is indeed intriguing to see people of diverse fields, disciplines and perspectives react to and interpret a piece of music and how that contrasts with your feelings and thoughts on the work. However, on a deeper level, I find that it's simply a desire to see people share in an emotional response that resonates with your own; something that we don't necessarily get, for whatever reason, when sharing a piece of music that has affected us with our friends and loved ones in real life. There's something voyeuristic about it, which at first made me a slightly uncomfortable, but the more I thought on it the more I came to appreciate the vulnerability and openness that reactors often display, especially when dealing with a thematically challenging piece - again, something we perhaps won't encounter when showing someone a song that moved you, as there is a great deal of difference between being shown a song and encountering it in isolation. In watching people be bravely vulnerable for an unknowably numerous audience of strangers, we recapture the feelings and thoughts that made a piece resonate with us so viscerally in the first place, and that absolutely can add something to the value of a piece of music. Not just knowing that it resonated with you on such a deep level, but that it resonated with others to a similar extent. In some ways it becomes slightly less personal, but through the shared experience also becomes something much more.

@@richardb561 thank you for taking the time to articulate this. I must admit I am a teeny channel so that others have found this video and have asked themselves the same question has come as a shock. Thank you for this. I felt like you were reading my mind. In a nutshell, I took the plunge and decided to challenge myself by signing up to do a charity fundraiser. I will be raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation by undertaking an 8 week course in Stand Up Comedy, culminating in a Gala Performance in mid December. I'm 60 next year, and did this after the death of someone I love, to channel the grief into something positive. I worked as a Community Psychiatric Nurse for many years and miss helping people, love children, so it seems like a win win. The course does not start until Oct 21st. I plan to vlog throughout, hopefully in an entertaining way. I've been very cautious building a social media presence for a variety of reasons. I think the main one is that I feel I have one shot to make a first impression, and it's intimidating. Plus I'm worried about hassling people... I've sent off for some starter equipment to record. I absolutely have no idea what you mean by 'over thinking' she said, worrying like mad about sharing stuff publicly. And that's another issue. I want to be entertaining and sociable. I also want to stay very private be able to dance with no one watching. I've dipped my toes in on FB today by doing a couple of very short videos, with just my voice in I'm really enjoying watch you rise. Are you on FB or Instagram? 🌟😻

Thank you for such an amazing comment. First yes I'm on facebook and instagram - instagram is mainly my cartoons and facebook at the moment is just whatever is on insta! I'm yet to work out a strategy. As for comedy course - me too! Well not the stand up part but a comedy writing course I start in October. Very exciting. Do you watch Mike Birbiglias working it out podcast here on YT - I think you will find it super reassuring as you see the top comedians 'working it out' for their shows and sharing how they struggle over certain things. Congrats on hitting record whether on or off camera. You did exactly the right thing of getting things started. I found facebook easier to start on as it's there then disappears (kind of), YT feels very permanent. Facebook though is people I know - eek - so it's kind of swings and roundabouts re what feels scarier. Good for you too for giving yourself a project at this difficult time. Be kind to you too.

I always wish I was creative. I wish I could draw but I don't have the skills to translate what I have in my head to paper, or even to think of what to draw in the first place. I wish I was good with music because I love listening when people pour their emotions into the sound. And so many other creative hobbies XD If I have instructions like a hobby kit, I can do that but I struggle to make anything just on my own. All this to say I am really enjoying your journey and seeing you not let these hurdles get in the way of sharing your creativity and practising and growing your talent <3

Thank you. At the risk of sounding like a broken record - have you seen my cartoons (in the community posts but mainly on instagram?) I borrow other peoples words, I draw stick people and cause I'm not a trained artist - and sometimes the pen slips - I end up improvising and my people never quite look like maybe they should and I love them! My book - Journalling With Cartoons - launches Oct 14th where I share how to do them. But what I've just said is a mini guide plus their are videos on this channel too. I share cause it sounds like you are itching to do something and I think you should scratch that itch!

Anyone who can do what you do can get a channel to grow in time, but you need to decide what your channel is about and grow a topic . Problem for myself is I am not camera friendly, and my voice is monotone (an Autism trait) . I have played with apps like facerig so I don't appear on camera in person . Maybe i will find a fix in time .

Originally came to YT to find reactions to music of my youth & find new music I liked. I found Ren through The Charismatic Voice. Hi Ren was powerful, and the way it made people react was too. You will see that there are content creators who Create! There are those who react, TATWho analyse. I love seeing reactors that show a genuine reaction to what they are seeing and hearing. Thank you for the most relatable confession! The video and also everyone in the comments are touching on the many reasons why Ren's reactions seem to be such an inescapable rabbit hole in themselves. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, if not I might just add another possible reason: Ren's work is hope and humanity in highly concentrated form (from the cheeky light-hearted ones to the deep societal and human hardship songs and videos), and I figure watching someone being sensitive and empathic resonating with that phenomenon might fill me with a tiny bit more hope in humanity each time.

@@JoanneWhitlock that sounds like a perfect dilemma! We're pushed to be consistent, and in fact consistency and coherence seems to drive most successful projects. However, it might be that consistency isn't only one thing, and we might be consistent in our breaks and comic reliefs too? In my life I've struggled to be consistent since I can remember and one reason was because I felt it hindered creativity.
