Ces instruments sont des luths. Plus précisément, de gauche à droite : un luth soprano, un luth alto, un luth ténor et enfin un luth basse. (Une autre forme de luth basse est appelée théorbe, le plus grand qui est souvent joué dans les ensembles baroques.)

People SO often forget that dynamics work differently on the lute It is wrong to make comparisons with a string quartet using bowed instruments

Warum schreiben Sie Herrn Croton nicht wie mir vor zeitgenössisch zu komponieren (Weiss Courante dm)?- Geht es vielleicht gar nicht um die Sache? Herr Croton ist Vorsitzender der DLG- da trauen Sie sich nicht.-Aber meine Inventionen ohne sie zu kennen ablehnen, das geht. Fordern Sie Herrn Croton doch mal auf wie mich oder zittern Ihnen da nicht nur Ihre Saiten??? -Andreas von Wunn

I'm studying Partimento, and I'm wondering how the lute was taught in Naples.....wonderful video. Maybe someday you will show us cadences and sequences and compare tactics with the keyboards :)

Beautiful! But they are trying too hard not to outshine one another. More dynamics, please. I realize this is more difficult with an inexperienced lute quartet than with an experienced string quartet. Lovely musicianship, great start!

Fantastic! Back in the late 1970's, I had a Deutsche Grammaphon cassette entitled "Concerto for Four Lutes". This is even better, because I can see the lutes being played.
