why would you want to use a rotary screw trap over this one? I know you mentioned this allows you to use it in lower flow applications.

While the trap is fishing, project technicians and biologists will be checking and processing the trap on a daily basis, ensuring that fish spend the least amount of time in the trap. During trap checks, they will also perform daily maintenance and cleaning of the trap.

I live in redbluff on the sac river! The strippers are killing our salmon and trout fishery! They need to up the limits on the strippers and no regulations on how to catch them! In tehama and Shasta counties u can’t use live bait but in the other counties south of tehama county u can!

@@andyhiebert1674 Water diversions usually start somewhere around the last dam on the river and water gets diverted to canals for agriculture. I believe big ag and these irrigation districts are funding FishBio for biased reports although this video was honest except for the fact they will never mention agriculture or the Tracy pumps as a reason for the salmon decline. For 100 years all of these so called non native predator species existed in our rivers but we still had healthy salmon runs. Around 1990 the drought was beginning to hit and then around early 2000 almond orchards starting popping up everywhere and now most of the salmon are gone.

Not evasive in Miami Canals . The Peacock Bass & Chiclids Feed on them & those are evasive. Cool Lil guys I keep in rain barrel by the downspout . Escape long stick on a hinge on top barrel to its bottom for lizards & critters can get out . Feed them nothing but do keep a pot with water in a leafy shaded spot , one thing you want to avoid in S FL.

They're native where I live, but they've been introduced in places all over the world. In some places where they've been introduced, they outcompete native fish for food or eat their babies or eggs.

Because they don't really focus eat mosquitos out in the wold, like yhe name would imply. They have also been seed and bred ALL OVER THE WORLD because of this misconception. All they really eat is all the food other fish need in their ecosystem.

this makes no seance if the pink salmon arent taxing the river then they will only provide food for other fish so its probably more harmful to remove them

A rainbow trout does not decide to become a Steelhead! Water temperature is the deciding factor. An upper section of a river is cold and tends to have local Rainbows. lower sections turn warm and those trout will tend to be Steelhead. This is all in transition and flux depending on droughts and wet years in a non damed environment. The DAMs have always been the big problem. I have seen spanning Stealhead under Nimbus dam water release was 3000 cfs five spawning Steelhead. The next day 1200 cfs and all the spawning beds were destroyed. My 95 year old grandfather explained this all to me as a child. The dams were put in place and all the spawns of any migratory fish were destroyed. That is why there are hatcheries under all the major dams in California. We have an artificial environment and the only solution is a hatchery system! The worst situation that is now evolving is any rainbow above the dams are non native species and Rainbows below the dams are native species, Talk about PROPAGANDA!!! All rainbows planted above the dams are sterile. Now every stream is a distictive Rainbow and cannot mix with other Rainbows that are planted even though these streams have been planted for the last 150 years. Now when a drought happens and no fertile trout can be planted all the trout are GONE! Because all of the dams and diversion restrict trout re accessing a stream bed and since that stream bed is not augmented by trout planting that trout stream has no trout and cannot come back after a severe drought. A simple example is the Stoney creek. Little stoney and Grindstone creek cannot sustain trout in really bad drought years. There are three dams Eastman, Stoney and Black butt blocking blocking spawning and mixing of rainbows coming from the Sacramento river. Currently if you look at the streams in the mountains each Rainbow gets stuck in one section of river never any DNA mixing making for a stronger studier fish. Each stream can have a totally different environment water temperature mineral deposits bugs you name it. So you can catch rainbows that look more white skinny or fat all dependant on the stream environment. They are NOT different species of Rainbow! The healthiest Steelhead Run in the Hood river Oregon has very little restrictions and the steeheads DNA is 40% local Rainbows. The Steelhead spawn with the local Rainbows to make a stronger Steelhead. The total opposite of how Californias Fish and Wildlife is treating its Rainbow/Steelhead! POOR MANAGEMENT

what are the regulations for steelhead fishing in the Carmel river? I'm in Monterey and have always been curious.
@fishbio
@fishbio 2 жыл бұрын
Steelhead fishing is only permitted during the months of November through April and only on certain days (these regulations change periodically so it’s important to check before fishing--see link below). Only catch and release is allowed, and the use of barbless hooks is required. However, rainbow trout can be fished in the upper Carmel River (including above Los Padres Dam) during open trout fishing season. wildlife.ca.gov/fishing

How do you get the video to show live feed? when we took the camera out, it was showing one image every 30 seconds

Thanks for your inquiry. In our experience, the ARIS provides a real-time view of underwater activity when configured properly. We would recommend adjusting the settings like frame rate to see if you can get the camera to update faster than every 30 seconds. If you have any additional questions, feel free to email [email protected].

I agree it is an artificial environment created by government that ruined the fishery. In California all rainbows planted above the dams are Sterile they cannot reproduce and will pair up and try and spawn with fertile Rainbows. Steelhead are Native and Rainbows are NON native. So they are re catagorized with Brook trout and German Browns. Crazy I verified this by checking all the hatcheries and this is now the policy. Wild trout area will be catch and release and all other areas will become sterile planting!
